By surfman from NJ on 11/02/2007 Pros: Ergonomic Grip, Excellent Shock Absorption, Good Precision, Good Stiffness, Lightweight Cons: Basket Breaks Easily Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The dream poles, the best I've had so far. Perfect flex, shock absorption, and swing weight. Love them in the bumps.
A couple of minor issues:
1) Adjustable length is a nice option but it gets loose every now and then.
2) I ski in the icy east so I killed the native baskets in the middle of the season, but it was not a problem for me - I got free bulletproof replacement baskets in a local ski shop.
However, those two little things did not spoil my overall impression at all.
By Quimbola from Denver on 10/25/2007 Pros: Good Precision, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Advanced Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are not the bad boys, they are the Tiger Lillies. Great poles but they are for women, just an FYI.
Caution: Thin Section is fragile By Norm_Nav from W'Boro SC on 09/24/2007 Cons: Thin Telescope broke Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I loaned one pole to a friend, crossing a dry bed in Bryce Canyon he put alot of weight on the pole and the small section broke off at the feril. I think he didn't have the pole extended properly,, the middle section is stronger so you will want to extend it furthermost, then have the thinest section extended to a lesser extent. When hiking the "Narrows" at Zion Canyon, I saw another broken section from a like set of Komperdell trekking poles,, someone else had learned the lesson the hard way.
By Mo from Pa. on 09/20/2007 Describe Yourself: Backpacker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Poles feel quite sturdy for how extremely light they are. They are about 1/3- 1/2 the weight of my aluminum poles. The foam grips are a little hard, not as comfortable as rubber, but just something to get used to. The locking system feels secure. Not trail tested yet, just initial observation. I never had my old poles over 125 cm so I purchased the compact(women's) version for the shorter collapsed length.

By TomG from Linden, NJ on 09/13/2007 Pros: Good grips, Grippy carbide tips, High tech looks, Lightweight, No stupid antishock sys Cons: Breakable, Locks let go sometimes Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking, Multi day trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I paid [$] for these from [...]. I felt the time came to finally get a pair, especially as everyone told me I'd need them for my weekend trip thru the New Hampshire Whites. These work like a dream when traversing rocky sections they act as outriggers to keep yourself stabilized. The carbon construction is super light, and looks cool to boot. No antishock here; I don't like overcomplication, simple is best and that's what these poles are.

Don't Leave Home Without Them! By Word Merchant from San Francisco, CA on 09/12/2007 Pros: Good grips, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Professional Guide Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The set I purchased replaces the set that was stolen, together with my Honda CRV.
I purchased the original set in approximately 2000 and used them without fail whenever I hiked, including, for example, the Milford Track in New Zealand. The second day of the three-day hike includes a wicked down hill for approximately three miles if I remember correctly. I would have been in pure agony on that part if I did not have them.
