Komperdell

More and more people are discovering the benefits of hiking with poles, and Komperdell of Austria manufactures some of the lightest, most technically advanced poles on the market. Designed for trekking, touring and Nordic walking, Komperdell poles not only stabilize your footing on the trail, but relieve pressure on joints and use 21% less energy, so you have more stamina for the journey. Made of feather-light aluminum alloys with tough carbide tips, Komperdell poles come in a variety of packable configurations, some with advanced shock-absorption technology, and feature super-comfortable grips, removable baskets and padded buckle-less straps.

Komperdell Godfather Alpine Ski Poles - Carbon Vario

The Godfather!
By surfman from NJ on 11/02/2007
Pros:
Ergonomic Grip, Excellent Shock Absorption, Good Precision, Good Stiffness, Lightweight
Cons:
Basket Breaks Easily
Best Uses:
Alpine
Describe Yourself:
Competitive Athlete
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The dream poles, the best I've had so far. Perfect flex, shock absorption, and swing weight. Love them in the bumps. A couple of minor issues: 1) Adjustable length is a nice option but it gets loose every now and then. 2) I ski in the icy east so I killed the native baskets in the middle of the season, but it was not a problem for me - I got free bulletproof replacement baskets in a local ski shop. However, those two little things did not spoil my overall impression at all.

Comments:
I loaned one pole to a friend, crossing a dry bed in Bryce Canyon he put alot of weight on the pole and the small section broke off at the feril. I think he didn't have the pole extended properly,, the middle section is stronger so you will want to extend it furthermost, then have the thinest section extended to a lesser extent. When hiking the "Narrows" at Zion Canyon, I saw another broken section from a like set of Komperdell trekking poles,, someone else had learned the lesson the hard way.

Komperdell C3 Carbon Trekking Poles - Standard, Pair (For Women)

extremely light
By Mo from Pa. on 09/20/2007
Pros:
Lightweight
Best Uses:
Backpacking
Describe Yourself:
Backpacker
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Poles feel quite sturdy for how extremely light they are. They are about 1/3- 1/2 the weight of my aluminum poles. The foam grips are a little hard, not as comfortable as rubber, but just something to get used to. The locking system feels secure. Not trail tested yet, just initial observation. I never had my old poles over 125 cm so I purchased the compact(women's) version for the shorter collapsed length.

I paid [$] for these from [...]. I felt the time came to finally get a pair, especially as everyone told me I'd need them for my weekend trip thru the New Hampshire Whites. These work like a dream when traversing rocky sections they act as outriggers to keep yourself stabilized. The carbon construction is super light, and looks cool to boot. No antishock here; I don't like overcomplication, simple is best and that's what these poles are.

Describe Yourself:

Comments:
The set I purchased replaces the set that was stolen, together with my Honda CRV. I purchased the original set in approximately 2000 and used them without fail whenever I hiked, including, for example, the Milford Track in New Zealand. The second day of the three-day hike includes a wicked down hill for approximately three miles if I remember correctly. I would have been in pure agony on that part if I did not have them.
