top materials and craftsmanship By stubones49 from Michigan to Alaska and parts elsewhere.. on 11/02/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Stable, Stylish, Warm Cons: Only one pair left to buy, Pull straps would be nice Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Tramping and truckin, Travel, Wet Weather, Work Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Form follows function, High-end shopper, Stylish Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Best Wellington ever. Comfortably warm within reason, very stabe walking boot with little to no foot fatigue. I stood in A puddle of rain water for several minites with no apparent leak. I have high arches and these boots provide plenty of stability and arch and ankle support. The real "morino wool" lining is exquisite and rare in any boot these days. You immediately notice the moisture wicking warmth of this superior choice of lining. They are also A perfect fit when ordering to size which has been A problem with me buying the "new guides" and "summits. I have several pairs of every style of Alico and have nothing but good to say about these true craftsman's works of art. The "Anfibio" leather comes well received and is plenty supple, substantially thick and protective. The "Montagna" Vibram sole is the best I have found yet for ground gripping. And finally Alico came up with A VERY confortable/removable inner sole. And lastly they look REAL good. I hope STP continues to stock this superior line of rugged footware which I prefer to stalk around in...

By K2mykel from Atlanta, GA on 10/29/2009 Pros: Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I work for AT&T and used Scarpa Rio's for several years for hiking and work. They are heavy but excellent with the ever changing terrain of a telephone man-one minute I can work in a penthouse suite and then move to a flooded out neighborhood to play in the mud. Because I work summer and winter outside I didn't want the cloth lined boots that so many manufactures are producing now, I assume that is cheaper for them. The leather liner is cooler in the summer and (surprisingly) warm in the winter, with good socks.
I've worn these now for almost a year and the soles look almost new, I wear them 5 days a week and 8 to 10 hours a day. The leather has some wear but is still holding up to the water even after sloshing thru the floods that we have had in GA lately. I've stood in ankle deep water for over 2 hours with out any leakage and that is with out treating the leather. And even wore them to a wedding last weekend, please don't tell my brother in law that I wore my work boots to his wedding.

By Big Drew from Bristol,RI on 10/28/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My first pair of Alico's but wont be the last. These are on the heavy side for day hickers but are meant to be multiday expedition boots. Completely waterproof with great traction and stability. I also have been using these in place of workboots. Well made, and the Stitching seems great. Break them in and you'll have boots for a long, long time.

By Hiker Harold from Denver, CO on 10/27/2009 Cons: Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The wide width boots I ordered were too narrow for my foot. Other tan that, a solid boot.

Old World Italian Craftsmanship By Rog the Shoe Nut from Englewood, CO on 10/26/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Great Value, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Amaze your co-workers, Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Day Hiker Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are about as close as you can come to getting something special hand-made in Italy for a great price. The workmanship is impeccable. They were comfortable to walk around in right out of the box, but look to need breaking in for any hike of more than a couple miles. Wore them at the office and they were a big hit--everyone was delighted where they came from and how easily they can be re-soled.
