By K2mykel from Atlanta, GA on 10/29/2009 Pros: Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I work for AT&T and used Scarpa Rio's for several years for hiking and work. They are heavy but excellent with the ever changing terrain of a telephone man-one minute I can work in a penthouse suite and then move to a flooded out neighborhood to play in the mud. Because I work summer and winter outside I didn't want the cloth lined boots that so many manufactures are producing now, I assume that is cheaper for them. The leather liner is cooler in the summer and (surprisingly) warm in the winter, with good socks.
I've worn these now for almost a year and the soles look almost new, I wear them 5 days a week and 8 to 10 hours a day. The leather has some wear but is still holding up to the water even after sloshing thru the floods that we have had in GA lately. I've stood in ankle deep water for over 2 hours with out any leakage and that is with out treating the leather. And even wore them to a wedding last weekend, please don't tell my brother in law that I wore my work boots to his wedding.

Just what I was looking for By wynmill from Flagstaff, AZ on 10/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Difficult Laces, Heavy, Long Break-in Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Boots are good looking and provide the support I was looking for.
By Big Drew from Bristol,RI on 10/28/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My first pair of Alico's but wont be the last. These are on the heavy side for day hickers but are meant to be multiday expedition boots. Completely waterproof with great traction and stability. I also have been using these in place of workboots. Well made, and the Stitching seems great. Break them in and you'll have boots for a long, long time.
By Hiker Harold from Denver, CO on 10/27/2009 Cons: Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The wide width boots I ordered were too narrow for my foot. Other tan that, a solid boot.
By Isahk from Portland, OR on 10/27/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots may not look as good as Americans, but are the most comfortable and the best crafted boots I've worn (over 30 different brands).
10.5 Medium feels like 10EE.
These are my best buy from Sierra among 20+ other products.
By Andy from Salem VA on 10/26/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Naturalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm giving these a 4 because the left boot is a 1/4" longer than the right. I have been using these boots for about a year now, so I feel like I can write a true user review on them. I've been wearing Norwegian welt boots like these for years, and they ALL needed broken in (including these). These boots however, break in alot quicker than my other 2 pairs; and once your feet and boots come to a truce, you will have a good comfortable boot that is molded to your foot and will last you half a lifetime. I use these boots for almost everything except work (my job requires steel-toes).I don't think I would use this boot for a really long backpacking trip with heavy loads, but for a couple day trip, or day hiking; I think they're great. If you like the plastic and mesh tennis shoes with hiking soles from china, you probably wont like these. However, if you like to buy a boot that will last for years an years, this boot is probably for you.
Nice Boots, Very Comfortable! By Roger from Monterey, CA on 10/26/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought two pairs of these, regular size 10.5 but also wearing 10 with thin socks without heel rubbing. I have been wearing these alternating every other day to walk on a bike trail for 1/4 mile and back. It takes some time for my feet to warm up but after a little while the boots are comfortable. Insoles seem not too be bad and wear smartwool or Rohnes hiking socks. I used Lexol cleaner, Lexol conditioner, Nikwax and Danner boot polish on these and they look nice.
