Alps Mountaineering

Dennis Brune started Alps Mountaineering in rural Missouri with one goal in mind: to offer performance-oriented outdoor gear at an affordable price. A truly homegrown business with a highly qualified staff, Alps Mountaineering listens to its consumers and designs accordingly, incorporating customer suggestions into their designs for packs, tents, sleeping bags, and other outdoor gear. All products are made of premium materials and tested in multiple outdoor environments—from the Grand Canyon to the Appalachian Trail—to assure that they are worthy of the company’s lifetime guarantee. Alps Mountaineering defines value not so much as "getting what you pay for" but "getting more than you pay for."

Alps Mountaineering Pine Ridge Air Pad - Long

Cons:
Heavy
Best Uses:
Car Camping

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This pad is the most comfortable I have ever used. It is best to let it sit for a day with the valve open to let it fully inflate. This is not a backpacking pad because it is heavy and a little bulky. but perfect for the weekend or short car trips. Really I slept better on this than on my memory foam mattress at home.

Great pad for comfort. Not light or compact enough for hiking, but great for base camp/casual camping. Somewhat of a chore to roll up, but carry bag is sized appropriately, plus has carrying handle.

Alps Mountaineering 20°F Sleeping Bag - Alpine Lake, Mummy

Great value but not warm enough for me
By daydreamerVerified Reviewer from los angeles, ca on 10/28/2009
Pros:
Roomy
Cons:
Heavy, Not Warm Enough, Zipper Snags Easily
Best Uses:
Car Camping
Describe Yourself:
Outdoor Professional
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
First of all, for the price, this bag can't be beat. And the zipper unsnags just as easily as it snags because the fabric is so slick, so it's not much of an annoyance. I am a medium height, medium weight girl and this bag is basically a double wide for me. I think for that reason, I cannot keep warm in less than 50 degrees. I can throw a large-sized foot warmer into the foot of the bag to keep me warm down to 40, but I cannot sleep through anything colder than that. It is also way too heavy for backpacking, so I would only use it car camping. Overall, a great value, but I wouldn't recommend it because of the width.

great product for the money. This one is the final replacement for our old gear & we didn't hesitate to get same as other three we've already purchased & used. Too heavy & bulky for backpacking but great for other use, very comfortable & easy to inflate.

Alps Mountaineering Folding Chip Table

Bouncy Bounce
By Sierra Hiker from San Pedro,CA on 10/21/2009
Cons:
Bulky, Heavy
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Yikes, not what I expected. Too bouncy, and I expected it to be a bit stiffer. I'm sending it back. But note that other folks like the table so read what they have to say. To me it seems too bulky and not efficient enough to warrant taking on trips. I'm going to get the collapsible ridgid table...
