Alps Mountaineering

Dennis Brune started Alps Mountaineering in rural Missouri with one goal in mind: to offer performance-oriented outdoor gear at an affordable price. A truly homegrown business with a highly qualified staff, Alps Mountaineering listens to its consumers and designs accordingly, incorporating customer suggestions into their designs for packs, tents, sleeping bags, and other outdoor gear. All products are made of premium materials and tested in multiple outdoor environments—from the Grand Canyon to the Appalachian Trail—to assure that they are worthy of the company’s lifetime guarantee. Alps Mountaineering defines value not so much as "getting what you pay for" but "getting more than you pay for."

Bag is very solid, comfortable, basic Mummy design. The temp got down to the 50s and I woke up hot in my bag. I am 6'2" and the bag fit me fine. I like the bag and love the price.

Warm
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments:
I recently bought this bag, and got my first chance to use it. Overnight, the weather turned much colder than expected (Probably at or lower than the rated 20º), and this bag still kept me warm. THe quality surpassed what I expected for the price, and I expect that it will last a long time. The only problem I had was that the fit was a bit tight (6', average build), making it a little uncomfortable to lay on my side in a fetal position, my preferred position. This is my first mummy bag, though, so I have no frame of reference if this is normal or not. It is a bit large and heavy for backpacking, but at this price, I can't really complain.

Alps Mountaineering Dining Roll-Up Table

Simple, Sturdy, and Cheap: WOW
By Rufus the Ridgeless from Southern Arizona on 09/11/2007
Pros:
Good Value
Best Uses:
As a seasonal patio table
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Table comes in a handy carrying case and is so easy to assemble that I figured it out before I found the enclosed instructions. I'm using it out on my patio as a seasonal table that can be stored without much room or fuss (and I managed to spray paint it to match my other furniture without destroying its ability to fold and roll up again). It has stayed upright and intact despite blustery summer storms. However, there are a few key plastic fittings that one must take care not to lose; this is not a problem on my patio, but might be if camping.

Alps Mountaineering Roll-Up Camp Table - Aluminum

This looks a lot cooler than it is...
By Joe from Grayling, MI on 09/11/2007
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Delicate
Best Uses:
Disposable furniture
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This table is very flimsy. I had a little trouble putting it together. I don't think it would hold up to repeated uses as a camp table. For the price I would rather get a card table.

Alps Mountaineering Steel Leisure Chair

This is a great chair!!!!
By trial rider from wisconsinVerified Reviewer from Rosholt, Wi on 09/11/2007
Pros:
Comfortable, Compact, Lightweight, Tough
Cons:
Could have a higher back
Best Uses:
Car Camping
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer, Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
After having back surgery it was difficult to find a comfortable chair that was easy to get out of and portable. These are great chairs around the camp fire after a long day of trail riding. The supports that cross behind the seat do NOT hit your back as do many chairs of the same type. The only change I would like to see, would be a higher back.

Pros:
Comfortable, Compact, Tough
Cons:
Heavy
Best Uses:
Car Camping, Day trip

Comments:
I took this to a 4 day native American ceremonial camping retreat. I was not able to use the chair much because in my camp it was first come first sit. I was not always first. Comments I heard were "you really know how to relax" and "what a comfortable chair..." A chair that I could recline and look at the stars, sit up and pay attention, or take a nap.
