By Jon Law from Omaha on 06/23/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight Best Uses: Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Normally a size 48 fits me like a glove, this coat was small enough that I could barely get the buttons to touch. Beautiful, but no larger size available for me to size up. With regret I had to return the coat.
Best possible value for under $200.00 By Cold Comfort from Fargo, ND on 06/11/2009 Pros: Adjustable, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Cons: Does Require Adjustment Best Uses: Ear Safety, Travel, Warmth Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Practical, Work wear oriented Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have read the many complaints about the size and fit of this hat.
The inner hat band is sewn too small.
I put wood clamps inside and expanded them until the inner band broke. The hat streched out perfectly with zero damage. I don't even know why it has an inner band.
People say the flaps are too long too tie under chin. I do not believe they need to tie under chin -- they will tuck right into your coat -- better still. The tie is to keep the flaps up when desired.
The excess head room is to keep a warm, dead air space above your head in frigid weather, rather than having your head right up against the outside -- providing less insulation from the cold.
I think this is a fantastic hat and I plan to enjoy the comfort it will provide in the commonly -20 to -35 degee weather and accompanying high winds that we experience in North Dakota.
Great value, Great price. Thanx JPW
Poor fit, not for cold weather By mxx from mid atlantic on 06/10/2009 Cons: No way to close up neck, Not Warm, Poor Fit Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Clearly high quality materials and finish, but poor fit and design.
Usually wear 42 suit, med or med/large jacket. Got a 42 in this, while chest fits, jacket cut straight, no taper, doesn't give tailored look expected at this price point, and I have an average 36 waist. Just sort of hangs off of you. Sleeves can be rolled up for length fit. Is very light weight, with 4 buttons, top one quite low, no way to close neck. Can't see as very useful in cold weather. I also got the Aston suede long coat, it is exceptionally nice and fits well.
By Rebekah from Napa on 06/06/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Commuting, Travel Describe Yourself: High-end shopper Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased to match coat. Lovely
Most of the Other Posters Were Right! By Some Guy in VA from Hampton Roads, VA on 06/03/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut Best Uses: Bad Weather, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my second Aston coat; I purchased the Spanish Suede Parka/w Hood some time last month. Both coat are gorgeous. My only issue for this one is the that the zipper ends about 3/4 shy of the top as stated by a prior poster. Overall this is an amazing value given the price. I can't attest to it's warmth because of the timing of my purchase but I'm extremely excited about giving it a full workout at first opportunity.
By sparklepup from Pittsburgh on 05/31/2009 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Commuting, Evening Describe Yourself: Casual, Comfort-oriented, High-end shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Sooo small! I wear L, ordered L, fit like S, felt like torture. Maybe good for (rich) kids.
Sharp looking, classy coat. By Wine lover from Cambria, CA on 05/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Although this was a very well-fitting and sharp looking coat it was not a style that was a good fit for me. I felt that this was an overcoat for a younger man (I'm 60) and goes out to clubs and enjoys nightlife more.
It is very stylish.
By Li from Seattle on 04/16/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Perfect fit as I ordered a size larger as detailed in the reviews. Beautiful hat!
The lovliest coat I have ever owned By Rose White from Charlottesville, Virginia on 04/13/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Going Out, Office, Travel, Work Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, High-end shopper, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Haven't yet had a chance to wear this outdoors, in cold weather, as I purchased it in early spring. However, it feels great on and seems as if it would be perfectly warm for our climate, which is often well below freezing. Beyond the practical, it is simply beautiful. The feel is not bulky like some fleece coats, but more like a heavy knit sweater coat. I especially like the hood feature, which when down lays like a nicely tailored broad collar. I thought there was a belt in the photo on the company web site. But there is no belt after all. No matter. It wears perfectly as is. I am a full bodied, size 14, and this not only fits really well, it looks great on! At first I bought a slightly less expensive Aston coat, trying hard to stay within my means. But it wasn't the coat I really wanted so I gave in, returned it, and bought this one. Wow. I am so glad I did. And I look forward to wearing it with enjoyment and appreciation for decades to come.
