It's a comfortable solid boot. Very little break in and yet still a hearty boot.
By Back country Pete from Bigfork, Montana on 06/30/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Difficult Laces, Too Stiff/Not Flexible Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Its a bit stiff to other hiking boots I've had. I'll use it during elk season so that will surely test its ability to support under "Holy Molly" loads. It has great ankle support. However the lacing system is a bit "iffy" to get a good snug fit. The great support of my ankles is for nill if the rest of my foot is sloshing around.
By Phishy Mountain Runner.... from Blue Ridge Mountains, VA on 06/28/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain, VERY technical trails Describe Yourself: Trail Runner, Ultramarathoner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I frequently run Ultramarathons (not a casual athlete) and this is a fantastic shoe. I wore these during the Highlands Sky 40 miler last weekend and was absolutely amazed at the way these shoes preformed. They are comfortable and supportive over VERY technical trail, yet you do not feel as though you have on a very heavy shoe. I usually wear Montrail Continental Divides and this shoe seems to have a lower profile, yet more stability in the sole. I am also a neutral runner who wears a cushioned shoe (i am a forefoot striker, so cushioned shoes are key) and these shoes deliver the comfort. The only drawback is that they are slow to dry, so if you wear them....remember extra socks in your drop bag. Great shoe, will buy another pair. By T- Bone from Flagstaff AZ. on 06/23/2009 Cons: Difficult Laces, Heavy, Not Comfortable Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The boot is a dissapointment with poor workmanship and a lack of padding on the inside of the boot.
By Dave from Yakima, WA on 06/22/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Day Hiking, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good boot so far.... will get full trial over the summer
By gp from Phoenix, AZ on 06/20/2009 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Good Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use this shoe at the gym and at work. It is comfortable and provides good support, but it is somewhat heavy and stiff, as a trail shoe should be. Someday, I'll try trail running with it.

By P'ville Hiker from Northern California on 06/19/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This shoe provides good arch support, a definite plus in my book. The sizing is a little funky, but I like the way the laces go almost all the way to the toe, so you can adjust the width at the ball of the foot. Also, the laces are not humongously long like most laces on women's shoes are!
By The girl leader from Foothills of California on 06/15/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Laces not tight enough, Long Break-in Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday Describe Yourself: Hike leader Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: For the most part,I like these boots. However,I usually wear a heavier boot and these were a little light weight for my personal preference (I just don't know if they will hold up with continued use). On my break-in hike, my feet got 2 "hot spots" around my ankle and 1 blister. Hopefully, they will not take too long to break in. But, the boots look good and are not too clunky. For most recreation, I think they would work out fine. (haven't tried them for backpacking yet).
By Bort from Juneau, AK on 06/13/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Southeast Alaskan Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I live in a rainforest, so even a short hike requires waterproof footwear on most days. I have taken them up steep and muddy trails and rock hopping along the coastline, great traction and truly waterproof to about 4.5 inches. Only complaint is that the softer foam ruber (light grey stuff) around the base of the boot tears up pretty easily on rocks. Overall good boots and you cannot do better for the price.
