La Sportiva

La Sportiva

Proudly run by true mountaineers, Colorado-based La Sportiva North America makes footwear specifically for the vertical disciplines. Back in 1928, La Sportiva began by crafting wooden clogs and leather boots for the lumberjacks and farmers of the Italian Dolomites. Decades of experience led to the best climbing shoes around, motivating a group of American climbers to start bringing the shoes out of Italy to resell for profit. Recognizing the international demand, the company created a North American branch. Whether you're attempting climbing's "seven summits" or simply prefer half-day trail excursions, La Sportiva has anything your feet will need. From rock shoes to mountaineering boots, La Sportiva footwear utilizes only high-tech materials. Expect to find waterproof breathable Gore-Tex® uppers, lightweight polyurethane midsoles and tough Vibram® outsoles with Impact Brake Systems.

I followed the guidance and ordered 1/2 size smaller than my normal size, and found the shoes tight. I have wide feet and high arches, and think that my normal size will be very comfortable. Seems to be a good shoe.

La Sportiva Slingshot Trail Running Shoes (For Women)

Comfortable but too small
By Scout from Culver City, CA on 10/05/2009
Pros:
Arch Support, Durable
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I ordered a size 6.5 which I've always worn for athletic shoes but these shoes were much smaller than true to size. My toes were jammed, making it uncomfortable to even walk. I would've exchanged it for the next size but they didn't have it in stock.

La Sportiva Approach Shoes - Superdrago (For Men)

2nd attempt at Superdrago sizing
By climbonclimberVerified Reviewer from reno, nv on 10/04/2009
Pros:
Looks Great
Cons:
Causes Hotspots or Blisters, No Arch Support, Not Enough Cushioning, Too Stiff
Describe Yourself:
Comfort Driven
Sizing:
Feels full size too small
Width:
Feels too narrow
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
To be fair, this was an online sale and I was unable to try on in the store. The sole rubber is barely sticky (1st time use on sandstone) and sole is very stiff making steep ascents/descents fairly sketchy. I'm a solid woman's US size 6, and can wear Mythos 35.5 all day long with comfort. Pretty disappointed in this La Sportiva product. On the up side - my experience with Sierra Trading Post has been stellar - will definitely shop with them in the future.

Great Traction for the Trail
By Adagio from nashville on 10/04/2009
Pros:
Great Traction
Best Uses:
Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain
Describe Yourself:
Gym Rat, Recreational Walker/Hiker
Bottom Line:

Comments:
Even though these are trail runners I bought them for inside use. They do have a lot of traction, probably great for outside use...a little sticky for indoor use. But, they are comfortable and bright ( I bought the purple/yellow combo).

Comments:
Bought these for approaches and walk-offs (rock climbing). Good soles, sturdy enough, but not too heavy. These will require a little break in. I have a wide foot - a bit tight in the forefoot, but I can address that with a different lacing pattern. Overall, I like them fine and they are a good value.

Cons:
Not Comfortable
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Sizing:
Feels full size too small, Feels too small
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
These seemed like just the boots I was looking for. I needed something solid and durable with good support and traction but when I tried them on I could barely get my hand in them nevermind my foot. I have a small but a wide foot and usually wear a 7.5-8. Thats what I ordered but there's no way it would fit and there were no larger sizes available. Really dissapointed because otherwise they seem like a great boot.

Given other comments, I ordered a half size smaller. They fit like a glove. Good-sized toe box. Really comfortable and not ugly. I may just order another pair.
