Great dry weather hiking boot By Mtn. Lover from NW Montana on 11/18/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Cons: Not Water Resistant, Toe guard seperate easily Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Fire Fighter Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have to order a full size larger than I usually wear or my toes touch the end of the boot. They are usually then a little too wide, which I solve by using a custom footbed. The guard on the toe seperates easily. My feet have been soaked in these boots, but I've never had a problem with the Khumbus, which I think are far superior and worth the extra money.

Beat all around shoe I've owned in years By Mark Heyman from NJ on 11/07/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Precise climbing toe, Stable Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these to play agressive paintball in a pit, but love them and wear them all the time. Around town they are great. They don't climb as well as I'd hoped (they are La Sportivas) and the rubber is a bit soft, but they are precise like a climbing shoe. Great tread for softer surfaces, but are a bit slippery on wet rock.
By huh? from Austin on 10/29/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Me: low to mid volume feet, 6' 180lbs, size 12 shoe. Fit so-so with supplied insoles(pinch top of toes, too much vol. in arch for me), fit great with orange Superfeet! Sticky rubber outsole very good on rocks. They seem pretty durable after a couple of months.
By Dave on Rock from Seattle WA on 10/25/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Simplifed lacing system Best Uses: Backcountry, Ice climbing, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was suprised by the comfort and fit. I have wide feet and found most lasportiva boots on the narrow end. This boot actually feels wide (a good thing). I have to cinch down the instep to get a tight fit. I wear a size 10, and the 44 fit perfectly. 43.5 works but feels too short but can get by on. Comfort is great..the liner fits well around the heel. No hot spots there. Heel lift is minimal. I weighed the 44 pair in at 4lbs, 9.5 oz. So, its pretty light for its class. Great boot great price. I do prefer the lacing setup on the nepal better and is what I'm familar with, but seems to work fine. Sarken crapons fit acceptably, though not as bomber as some. A great boot for climbing the high alpine.
By NA from OVERSEAS on 10/25/2007 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: OVERALL THIS IS A GREAT BOOT BUT I THINK IT NEEDS A LOT OF WEARING TO BREAK IN. GREAT SUPPORT AND TRACTION,WATERPRROF, BUT UNCOMFORTABLE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. BE AWARE FROM SIZING, I AM A SIZE 9, I ORDERED THE 43 SIZE, WIDTH IS PERFECT, BUT THE LENGTH STILL A LITTLE BIT SMALL. I THINK IF IT WAS OFFERED IN 43.5, WOULD BE A PERFECT FIT.
By Chris from Canadian Rockies on 10/15/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I own a pair of La Sportiva Nepal Evos that I bought for the intended use of ice-climbiing and alpine climbs. However, I loved them so much that I was using them on all of my scrambles. The Nepal Evos were taking a beating, so when I saw the Khumbu, I picked up a pair. While they are not the Nepal, they are a great fit, waterproof, and have quite a rigid sole (which is great for edging and small foot holds). They are crampon compatible and would work well on glacier travel, alpine climbs, and ice-climbing on warm days. Overall, for the price, the Khumbu is a bomber boot.

Sticky soles on rocks and wet stuff.
By Costa Rican Tourist from Toronto, ON on 09/30/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these shoes for a climb up Mount Chirripo in Costa Rica and I have been very pleased from the moment I put them on my feet. Comfort and support is really good; I can vouch for their waterproofness as well. I cannot yet comment on their long term durability but the boot is built well. Highly recommended.
