Great Look, Smart Details By Annie from Thousand Oaks, CA on 04/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Cons: Inadequate Protection Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I returned this vest because for a large it ran very small, perhaps it is because it was made in France. The fact that the vest was from France intriqued me and it was in fact a great vest for someone 5'5" or smaller (I'm 5'10") The details, the cut and color were great. The size, the warmth failed miserably for me.
Great find, nice pants, surprise sizing By Mtn Bob from SoCal on 04/06/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Best in inclement weather, Hiking, Snowboarding/Skiing Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Wet weather, Winter Sports Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: "Size 42" is size 32 inch waist. I usually wear other European size pants in 48, and was unfamiliar with the sizing plan for these. They are spot on 32, and have a little bit of give in the waist. Inseam Length is 32 inches as indicated on STP.
These pants have a terrific feel to the fabric, like moleskin or a microsuede, but a little "lighter." So far on one 12 mile hike and one ski day the material has been very durable.
They are comfortable with activity, flexing enough to give good range of motion. Not marketed as a ski pant, they performed very well for me, and were warm in 26* F without using a base layer.
Surprisingly warm; wind-resistant yet they breathe well. I haven't been in rain per se, but the pants kept me dry in damp weather and getting wet from dew-laden plants on the trail.
For me, the only downside has been the narrow belt loops. I usually use 1 1/4" nylon belts in the outdoors, and these are 1" loops--low-lying and tight, barely room for Bison 26 mm belts. Certainly not a deal killer for these pants. Terrific overall.
By Sparty SAM from Haslett, MI on 04/05/2009 Pros: Adjustable fittings, Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Useful Design features, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Recently, I have decided to use Sierra Trading Post as my source for replacement coats. I purchased two Barbours and then, based on a sale offering, I decided to try the Le Chamel. To say that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and style of this garment is an understatement. Based on my limited use of this coat, I would view the le Chamel superior to the Barbours. It is relatively lightweight; it breathes. More importantly, it has a number of really nice features. For example, some of the Barbours allow you to tighten the inner sleeve using a series of metal buttons. These tend to be a case of either too loose or too tight. The Le Chamel achieves the same result using velcro. The inner pocket has a nicely sewn-in zipper closure. The collar has a nice bridge so that you ensure that it is tight on cold days. This is not a well known product (well not to me at least -- their website does not help). Yet, this is a great coat. It is great value. Get it; you will not be disappointed. I know that I was not.
By Suggs from Canada on 03/13/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a heavy-duty jacket. The craftmanship is exceptional, as is the quality.
There are various pockets (one internal), which provide adequate space for personal items.
The value (vs. regular retail price) is second to none.
By FederaLady from Largo, MD on 03/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Color, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I probably lost some weight or the sweater looked shapeless.
By lonepine from Mount Vernon, Ohio on 03/06/2009 Cons: Neck is too tight, Too Short Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I had a hard time pulling this over my head. I do not have a large head at all. The neck grabs your throat. I paid very little for this sweater so I will keep it in hope that I can stretch the neck.
Exceptional Pants for Men and Women By Woman Walker from Rainy Seattle on 02/25/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Hiking, Walking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Rainforest vacations Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I want to thank the first reviewer; he was right: a size 44 is like a 34 waist. Length is 32. Nice details and excellent quality of construction. No one can imagine these pants are waterproof; your friends will be amazed. As a woman, it is almost impossible to find waterproof pants that are not bulky and still attractive. These pants are perfect for rainy walks without feeling embarrassed about how you look. There is a minimal amount of bulk because of two layers--soft, attractive outer and Gore-Tex inner--but it is not too noticeable. The only unattractive feature is the pockets on the sides of the legs, but they do lie flat. You could wear these hiking or backpacking, but they are too nice to abuse this way. You will never find pants like this again, unless they are Chameau.
Very comforable and a very good bargain By Kudu 2002 from Aptos, California on 02/23/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, High Quality, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Office, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Conservative, Practical Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Excellent value, very comfortable, attractive and easy to care for.
By outdoorsman from dallas, tx on 02/17/2009 Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is not even close to true to size. It is way too big and the sleeves are insanely long. What's even worse is that I have a similar Le Chameau jacket in large and the two do not even fit anywhere the same. So, they are not even consistent within their own product line. Other than that it's a great jacket for the price just be sure to order one size down
By Gomiboy from Vancouver BC on 02/05/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Cut, Good for a tall man Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was very impressed with cut, manufacture, styling, then decided it was oversized. I bought an L, suspect I could wear an M, and sometimes need an XL. Not a mistake I'd make in a store. Still, a nicely-made garment.
