Hobie

Hobie

Hobie didn’t always make sunglasses. Starting out in his parent’s garage, Hobart "Hobie" Alter began making custom balsawood surfboards for friends in the summer of 1950. After a few short years, Hobie’s hobby became a full-fledged business as he opened his first surf shop in Dana Point, California. Today, the Hobie product line has expanded to include not only surfboards, sailboats and the like, but also some of the best looking polarized sunglasses around. Hobie sunglasses feature premium technologies like Hydro Clean, designed to maintain clear vision in wet environments. Whether you sail, surf, fish or kayak, a pair of Hobie polarized sunglasses makes a great choice for any on-the-water activity. At Sierra Trading Post, we carry discount Hobie sunglasses in a variety of styles, from wire-rimmed casual sunglasses to impact-resistant sport sunglasses.

Hobie Avalon Profile Sunglasses - Polarized

for small faces only
By pinhead from nor cal on 01/06/2009
Pros:
Adequate Tint, Attractive Design, Comfortable
Cons:
Too Small
Best Uses:
Casual Wear
Describe Yourself:
Practical
Sizing:
Feels too small
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Seem like good glasses, however if you have a medium to a larger face, these glasses will be too small. I have a medium size face, they were not even close to fitting me. My wife is 5'2", with a face that would correspond with her size, and the glasses were small even for her

Light weight and great style. I ordered these with some hesitation as I am a 6' guy with a "normal" size head (my wife might disagree) but they fit me very well. I will primarily use these riding my motorcycle and they appear to fit well to this purpose. I haven't owned them long enough to know their durability but they seem to be made well and are of great quality. Another super STP find!

Comments:
Excellent. I have several pair of glasses that I use cycling. These are my favorites. So light that I do not know that I am wearing them. The polarization and size are appropriate. Roomy enough that they do not trap any air around the eyes and fog up like some other glasses. They keep my eyes cool and cut back on the sweating. Did I mention that they look good?=they do.

Good glasses
By Hambone from Afton, OK on 12/26/2008
Pros:
Good Protection from the Sun, Stylish
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Polarized glasses are almost essential when boating [or fishing] on sunny days. This style, metal frameless, is lighter and will retain its fit better than plastic framed sunglasses.

Terrible quality frame.
By SJVerified Reviewer from Placerville, CA on 12/10/2008
Pros:
Nice lenses
Cons:
Bad Frame
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
These looked great online. But my pair out of the packing had an uneven Frame and the left lens fell into my hand before I ever tried them on. I returned mine.
