It's not at my waist but not an empire, either. The underarms are also pulled up and cut. If the neckline could only be let out an inch or two, it would make all the difference. It is for a shorter torsoed person. Very cute and the fabric is wonderful, but had to send back because I'm too tall for the style.

Great for the cool weather. I was hoping to wear this dress to a summer wedding, but I will have to wait for a fall one instead. It is roomy and if you have hips you will fill it out perfectly. The side slant pockets are a cute addition.

Other than that it's a beautiful and very stylish dress.

It makes you look and feel great! The fit is forgiving yet flattering, the front bodice is cut on the bias for a really smooth drape, the color (I got tomato) is amazingly rich, and the texture of the fabric is luxurious. I would want it to be an inch or two longer but other than that this is a dress I will wear and love for years. I even got the printed one too.

The fit is forgiving yet flattering. It is the dress where people will ask if you've lost weight or got a new hairstyle. I was wary of the fabric being polyester but it is actually quite luxurious and comfortable - a close second to silk. I got the blue one, and the picture makes it look like there is some brown, but actually that color more of a gray. The only downside is that the belt looks cheap and plasticky, not as shown in the picture. So I got a different belt to use instead.
