By webjones from Alpharetta, GA on 09/15/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've always had good luck with Lowa footwear. My feet are narrow from heel to toe and Lowas fit better than any other brand I've tried.
These shoes have a unique 'exoskeleton' type of design and they really hug the foot. At first it felt a bit strange, but after a few weeks of wearing them constantly I've grown to like the feeling. There is no slipping, rubbing or chafing at all. They are very light weight and stable.
The soles of these shoes are not thick like boots, so you feel the ground a bit more. I imagine that one could day hike in these with a light pack on established trails. The sense of feeling the ground might actually be a plus - though I might worry about getting sore feet if the terrain is very rough.
Even if you want to wear them just as a casual shoe, they're great for that. They have a unique and attractive style that's refreshingly understated in a market full of cartoonish athletic shoes.

The only problem is that they're not waterproof -- water gets in through the lacings. But otherwise wonderful boots with great support!
