sutor mantellassi split toe mocs By greg the shoe buff from riverside, ca on 04/30/2008 Best Uses: Versatile design Describe Yourself: High-end shopper Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Sutor Mantellassi shoes are classically styled with nice hand-finish detailing such as tacked toe and heel, hand-stitching touches, and an exquisite mottled burnished finish much like my edward green shoes. However, these shoes are "nos" (i.e., new old stock) and do not reflect the quality of the latest mantellassi top-of-the-range shoes. parts of the inner sole shows "glue through staining" - an indication of age and the leather has become a bit stiff. if i should base my judgment solely on this, my first pair of mantellassi's, i would say that testoni top-of-the-rage shoes are much better made with finer stitching, better quality leather uppers and a finer quality sole.

By Rick from Boston, MA on 02/10/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Classic Design, Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Going Out, Work Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Conservative, High-end shopper Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes, together with the other Sutor Mantelassi's I have purchased at STP, are the finest shoes I own. The workmanship, leather and styling surpass other "high end" shoes such as Ferragamo and Alden. As with any all leather dress shoe they require overshoes in snow and wet weather. But they will last forever, withstand numerous re-solings and generally represent value.
Versatile shoe with great antiquing By Darius from Chicago on 01/12/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Great antiquing, Great with jeans, Sleek last shape, Very comfortable, Works well with trousers Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Work Describe Yourself: High-end shopper, Stylish Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Sutor Mantelassi is high end and well regarded shoemaker by shoe afficionados. Known for its sleek Italian styling and interesting finishes, this double monkstrap shoe will not disappoint. The leather is quite soft and flexible, and although might be perceived as thin compared to other high-end shoe makers, the finishing is excellent and there is nothing to suggest that the leather is anything but high quality and durable. I am quite happy with this purchase as it works well during the work week with trousers and looks great with jeans on the weekend.
With respect to fit, these particular sutors fit snugly with true sizing. Going a 1/2 size up may work as well.
