Great looking but runs small By Jungle Cruiser from Atlanta on 09/30/2008 Pros: Good Value, High Quality Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These run quite small, not only in the waist but also in the thigh area. Get a size larger for sure.
By CiscoCrooky from Upper South on 09/28/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Lowe Alpine's description of sizing in an XL varies -- sometimes it's 16-18, sometimes 18-20 -- an XL in this jacket was described as the latter. But it is nowhere near that -- much too small in the hip area. It would have been impossible to add a fleece layer under this in cold weather -- which is why I had purchased the jacket. Otherwise it's well-made, great fabric and color, perfect for colder wet weather. Unfortunately I must return it.
By JayeColorado from Fort Collins, CO on 09/28/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Windproof Best Uses: Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Comments: I usually wear a Medium (8-10) size but I had to buy an EXTRA LARGE in this style. Anything smaller was very "bunchy" under the arms where multiple seams meet. (The XL body is none too large, but the sleeves are a little long.) Also, the decorative top-stitching catches on velcro, which I didn't realize until I noticed the frayed stitching on a sleeve where it was grabbed by a pocket flap on my pants. The jacket does not provide a lot of warmth in and of itself, but there is enough room for some layers (silks, lightweight fleece). On the plus side, it is very windproof, which is what I was really looking for in this jacket, and it weighs under a pound which makes it a good backpacking choice.
By telechick from NEPA on 09/23/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Stylish, Warm Cons: Weird placement of toggle Best Uses: Casual Wear, Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Since I am rather busty, it can be very difficult to find active wear that fits without being gigantic everywhere other than the chest. This jacket fits beautifully and is warm and comfortable. I have not had a chance to use it in inclement weather, but I expect it to perform well.
My only complaint is that there is a toggle to tighten the collar that is placed directly on the back of the neck inside the collar and it can be very uncomfortable when you're driving or leaning against something. It's too bad they couldn't have figured out a better way to do it.
By NikonShooter32 from Amherst, MA on 09/22/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Lowe Alpine Glacion softshell is a wonderful jacket for cool and breezy days/nights. Granted, the sleeves should have some kind of closure/adjustment on them, but other than that, the fit is slim but not restrictive at all. You can feel the breathability of the jacket, and the windproofing is top notch.
By varietygirl from Boston, MA on 09/22/2008 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I was disappointed with this since I have been very happy with other Lowe Alpine products. The material was abrasive and does not feel good next to your skin and the fit was bad. It is much too big and not stretchy. I can't even wear this sports bra as a last resort when I am behind on laundry!
Simple design and lightweight By Tassie Jo from Tasmania on 09/21/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't used these pants seriously yet so can't comment about durability but these are a nice simple and practical design in a very lightweight fabric, making them very packable and ideal for travel and casual wear.
Great jacket - terrible zipper By Sadie's Dad from Down East on 09/20/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Very lightweight but warm, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is a great value - 700 fill down and compresses to nothing for storage - adequate pockets for most occasions - and did I say WARM
Great price, great jacket By Val Di from Upstate NY on 09/20/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Top layer for walking Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love the new Gore-Tex fabric. Heavier and more water resistant. Don't feel damp when in heavy rain. I wanted the jacket to travel with as well as walk in all kinds of weather BUT the face and hood protection come up very high on the face and cannot be easily folded out of the way when you don't need them. I am a petite 10/12 and found the medium size just right for layering. A tall person might find it too short.
By nosivad_bor from Pittsburgh, PA on 09/19/2008 Pros: Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Great fleece except the collar was way too bulky. I had to return it because it was too thick and rubbed my neck.
Also the green color looks like artificial turf - choose a difference color. |
