Be aware that the exterior is ceramic- I think it might weight more than a pound-- empty. Attractive, but not practical as a travel mug which is what I'd hoped it might be useful as. Have no experience with it's heat/cold retaining properties.

However she gets distracted easily so it gets cold. This beautiful, mug has been a great gift to my usually very dainty mom. However, after one drop the ceramic cracked to pieces sooooo while it is very effective at keeping things warm its not so good at staying pretty.

The lid leaks and the stainless ring around the top came off after less than a month. There are better products out there, buy one of them.
