Marmot

Marmot

High alpine winds, impromptu thunderstorms, plummeting mercury... Marmot clothing and gear sets your mind at ease. Outdoor enthusiasts have trusted their comfort to Marmot clothing, packs, sleeping bags and tents for the last 30 years. Marmot was one of the first in the United States to fortify outdoor gear with Gore-Tex® revolutionary, waterproof breathable technology and remains Gore’s oldest customer in the world outdoor market. In 1976, Marmot’s college student co-founders spent seven nights in a commercial meat locker, testing prototype sleeping bags with and without Gore-Tex®. They were also known to test clothing under fire sprinklers. And while their testing methods may have grown more sophisticated, they haven’t lost sight of their goal to make the highest quality performance gear that is simple, easy to use, comfortable, durable, and the lightest weight possible.

I already had a previous version, but decided to buy one for my relative and another for me! I've used this to warm-up, as a jacket to go out for casual nights-out, and a liner under my ski jacket shell during cold days at Mammoth. An all-around GREAT windshirt.

I am tall and this coat is long enough in the back and in the sleeves which is hard to find. It is warm but not bulky. The colors (brown/yellow) are much more vibrant than the pictures display...very pretty coat!

I have been looking for a light weight warm jacket that packs easily into a tote/backpack. Also wanted a jacket to wear under my rain slicker and an older Marmot ski shell. This works perfectly. I also liked [...] the discounted price!

I love Polartec Power Stretch. It is warm, soft, and breathable. I will wear this as a shirt...not a jacket to run, snowshoe, and camp. I am between a small and medium....so I bought a small, which is snug but works OK. I like these so well I have purchased them in three different colors!

Comments:
Bought this for cool weather backpacking. I haven't used it on the trail yet, but on first wearing I can say that it fits great: not too bulky, which is important for wearing with a backpack, but with room enough for mobility. I run hot, so the pit zips are welcome (and hard to find in a midweight jacket), and the plackets are unobtrusive and comfortable. The pockets are large and I appreciate that they sewed down the bottom of them in the jacket interior, making two additional pockets that are ideal for maps. I'm sure this jacket makes fine casual wear, but it's really meant to be a simple technical piece for layering over a base and under a shell, and it's absolutely spot-on for that purpose.

Comments:
This jacket has a very athletic fit and is a great mid layer for snow or rain. The exterior does'nt hold grass and leaves, the stretchiness is great and the inner microfleece lining is surprisingly warm. The best part is the Gore Windstopper which totally eradicates any wind chill factor. The pit zips allow use in milder weather. Quality construction all around.
