Very stiff boots, look well made. By Figment from Fort Collins, CO on 12/07/2007 Pros: Great Traction, Stable Cons: Narrow across toes, long. Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Nicely made, heavy duty sole. But boot was a bit long though narrow across the toes, pinched the little toe. Very stiff too. Not sure it that would change with wear. Returned boots as too tight across the toes.

By live with aloha from upstate ny on 12/05/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Snowshoeing, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are high quality, well put together boots. They are comfortable like trail running shoes but have very stable and comfortable ankle support. They're going to be great for snowshoeing and winter hiking. Durability is TBD...I have several other Montrails, and I've had mixed results on durability. But Montrail stands by their products and their warranty service is great.
By Peaches from SW Pennsylvania on 12/02/2007 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The shaft of the boot is very high, and stiff. Not well padded, and torture on down-hill hike on uneven grassy terrain.
This boot may work for a taller person. I am 5'2, and the back of the boot rode high up my leg, very uncomfortable.
Returned for refund.
excellent but took on water after 3 mos. By lisa from alexandria, va on 11/30/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Light and breathable, Non-slip sole, Stable, Supportive Best Uses: Muddy conditions, Trail running, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: love the fit and support of this shoe straight out of the box. great for overpronators. ran 3 miles/day through wooded trails, grassy pastures, and off trail muck for the past 3 mos. was fabulous -- excellent traction, waterproof and breathable! don't recall if the waterproof membrane is inside or out, but during the last 2 outings the left shoe leaked around the seam on top of toes. about 3 inches or so of wet soaked into my sock and soon unhappy foot. still love the fit enough to forgive montrail and order another gore-tex model...hurricane ridge perhaps? worth it at this price.
By Nick from Loveland, CO on 11/27/2007 Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Shoes work great indoor, haven't had a chance to use them outside yet but I'm sure they would be fine. Love the straps, gives you a perfect fit everytime.
