Mountain Hardwear

When survival comes down to the durability and reliability of your gear - as it does for Mountain Hardwear’s sponsored athletes - Mountain Hardwear delivers... with products that battle the elements and ensure a safe return to the trailhead. In 1993, four people from outdoor gear industry leaders (including The North Face and Sierra Designs) came together with a common mission: "To become the number one, authentic outdoor equipment company in the world." Ninety days later Mountain Hardwear introduced the Exposure Parka and Sub Zero Jacket. These innovations (and many more) were so sparked by individual passion and experience that Mountain Hardwear quickly earned the trust of hikers, climbers and skiers... and won awards for its apparel, tents, sleeping bags and backpacks. Mountain Hardwear pioneered cutting edge technologies like Gore® Windstopper® fleece and Gore-Tex®XCR®, incorporating them into performance gear that functions as well as it looks and fits. A superlight tent for fast-packing minimalists, a subzero-rated down sleeping bag for serious alpinists, or a water-resistant soft shell for the weekend warriors, Mountain Hardwear has the hardware needed to survive the mountain!

I use this as a daily jacket. It is comfortable and warm, and very soft. It does fit snuggly, so it will fit well under a shell to stop the wind. This is much nicer than the fleece it replaced.

Wore this fleece pull over for a recent trip to Mt Charleston. Great for a pre hike drive and a post hike meal, had to switch to a softshell as the weather changed(sun going down, 41 degrees in the sun). This is a great fleece for lounging and post activity comfort, just wish I had gotten it earlier in the season so I could have gone out with just this fleece.

I have always been a shell with layers person, until I got a MH Sub Zero Jacket. It was warm but not very durable and too short. Then, I found this jacket on sale in Leadville, CO. Pockets and pockets, bomb proof exterior, waterproof, pit vents, very warm, extremely warm with a fleece layer, detachable hood, etc... This jacket is tops for snow camping, rolling around in the snow, sledding, and other activities or lack of activity. The pit vents are big enough to cool you off when you are walking up that sledding hill for the 20th time. The extras on the jacket are well thought out and functional. Top notch.

Nice shirt. Not as heavy-duty as I would expect from Mountain Hardwear. More dressy/flashy than hard-core hiking. Still a good lightweight shirt.
