By Jonesing for Snow from Portland, OR on 12/15/2008 Pros: Great Construction, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Collegiate/Pro Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is simply the best all around backcountry ski I have ever used. If you are only going to have one ski, this is it. I skied from the summits of Hood, Adams, Rainier and St. Helens last year and they delivered in everything from powder in the Wallowas to bulletproof ice at the summit of Rainier. They are very light weight which is great for climbing and then they are stable going down - for how light they are that is...

Light and Reasonably Stiff By DavidB from Missoula, MT on 11/08/2008 Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just got the boots and haven't had a chance to ski in them. They feel fairly light but don't have quite the featherweight feel I was hoping for. They feel adequately stiff, given the lightweight. They seemed true to size, fit well, and caused no discomfort after wearing them for an hour indoors.
By BL2000 from New Jersey on 09/18/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was truly not expecting much, but placed an order for these when they were about [$]/pair. They felt awful straight out of the box, but the thermoform liner molded nicely around my relatively wide feet when warmed and I threw in a spare pair of inner soles lying around. They lack cuff (cant) adjustment, which I usually need, but they seem fine anyway. Perhaps the cuff is already canted - I can't be sure. They also have a nice flex...I don't like an ultra-stiff forward flexing boot and these are just right. Laterally, they're fine. They're not AS burly as high-end boots, but burly enough. (My other pair are Salomon Impact 10s.)4 stars for lack of canting
Excellent Lightweight Boot (&unisex too) By Jonathan S. from Amherst, Mass. on 08/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Warm Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As of August 6, the stp description still reads "(For Women)" but this is incorrect: Dynafit has always made this boot as a unisex model.
Anyway, the boot is ultralight and walk/hikes/climbs even better than the weight indicates because the sole is sculpted to eliminate any excess in the toe and heel lugs. This means it can't be used in any binding other than Dynafit (or the current Silvretta 500, or older 300/400/404/505), but then again, why would anyone want to use a boot like this in a binding other than Dynafit? (Still compatible with all crampons, even fully automatic.)
With the upper buckle and power strap cranked all the way, the boot still has enough power to handle steep descents, as long as the ski choice is kept relatively narrow & light.
By Jonathan S. from Amherst, Mass. on 08/06/2008 Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Dynafit rando race boot is absurdly light, yet still provides descent stiffness. The tradeoff is that the cuff height is fairly low.

The skin/ski "switch" is a very clever design that essentially lacks any moving parts, and is very quick.
Couple with a light race ski, steep descents are still possible, but the main point is on the ascent.
A great boot for racing or just long tours when ascent speed matters and taking a little extra time & care on the descent are okay.
Ski for Rando Racing & Light/Fast Tours By Jonathan S. from Amherst, Mass. on 08/06/2008 Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As of August 6, the stp description still describes this as a ski for "nordic racing" but it is actually designed for randonnee / ski mountaineering races. As such, it is absurdly light, yet capable of difficult descents. Just don't expect any float from the narrow profile in unconsolidated snow.
The ski is designed for Dynafit bindings (of course) and the tip notch can accept either custom Dynafit skins or custom-designed tip attachments.
Great Touring Ski & not just for wome By Jonathan S. from Amherst, Mass. on 08/06/2008 Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Although marketed as a women's ski, this is still a fairly stiff ski, so perfectly fine for anyone comfortable with the 169cm length.
At 145 lbs, this ski never felt short for me despite the 169cm length.
Also, although the graphics are somewhat pastel in color, the "W" is fairly subtle, so if you're a guy, don't worry about being seen on "women's" skis!
Only drawback is that it could be a bit lighter . . . which is why Dynafit makes the Mustagh Ata version.
