Have been looking for years By Madison from Newton, MA on 05/04/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Has zipper and toggles Cons: Not sure yet how warm Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Classic Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this coat bcause of it's length. I wanted something classic but longer than the typical duffle coat. The zipper "zips" on the wrong side (European) for American men (You place the metal insert on the right side)which takes some getting used to).
A wonderful, well-made Gore-Tex garment. By Duncan the commuter from Chicago, IL on 04/07/2008 Pros: BEAUTIFUL, Breathable, Durable, Warm, Waterproof Cons: Zipper on opposite side Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Spring and fall, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm very pleased with this coat; it looks very nice, has a beautiful feel, and also feels like it will be a durable, long-lasting coat.
By Retired and loving it from Denver suburbs on 04/02/2008 Pros: beautiful soft wool, Breathable, Comfortable Cons: Size on line not accurate Best Uses: casual, Going Out Describe Yourself: High-end shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had to return the first coat, size 34, and order the size 36 which fits perfectly. The tag in the pocket listed this as US 6 which is pretty accurate. It is roomy enough to fit over a heavy sweater and will be perfect for layering in our changeable Colorado weather. The sleeves, which must be turned back, reveal the color of the inside of the hood. All in all, the coat has beautiful fabric and tailoring.
Stunniing Luxury Coat at Reasonable Pric By Lawyer-Manager-Mom from San Francisco on 03/25/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Beautiful Topstitching, Comfortable, Designer Details, Durable, Gorgeous fabric, Hangs Beautifully, Lovely Lining, Not Too Heavy, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Formal Occasions, Going Out, Office, Office-to-Opera Describe Yourself: High-end shopper, Love European Clothes, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a luxury item, beautifully made with lovely materials. The style is equally at home over a good suit or a nice dress. The lightweight fabric makes it a great spring and fall coat. For an otherwise generous cut, this coat is surprisingly small in the chest and shoulders. I had to order a size larger than usual.
By Ephblum from Amherst, NY on 03/25/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: casual, Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very nice coat overall, may actually be from their top end "Collection Solitaire" (that's what was on one of the tags). If you're wondering about the brand (I was engaged in a futile search for an Amadeus website prior to purchase) the tag has it: [@]Considering that Amadeus is already Schneider's high end line, either way this coat is very high end. Outer fabric is the definite selling point. It is very soft when felt going "with the grain" so to speak. The fabric also has a great look with subtle coloring from the various wools woven together. Also, the lining has embroidered Mozart busts all over it-kind of a fun touch. It's somewhat telling about the quality of this coat that the interior has more cashmere for the lower lining than the exterior. Well-made with nice pockets (three zippered interior including one that zips vertically near the top left side that works great for holding the cell phone), solid stitching throughout. My only gripe would be the generous fit-most higher end clothing tends to be more tailored, which I prefer, and this coat is a bit on the "roomy" side. I actually bought a 42 when I normally wear a 44 and it was still somewhat roomy, but not so much so that I would even go lower in size. A 42 is perfect in the shoulders but a little larger in the torso for me. If I had gotten a 44, I would have most likely exchanged it. Considering the country of origin, it's may be that it's made to wear over other bulky clothing like sweaters, which I have yet to wear it with. I could always get it tailored down in the torso. Also, the sleeves work great for me (I normally wear a long suit) but may be on the long side for others. With the color and length it is best as a casual/weekend piece but with the generous size could probably be worn over a suit as a shorter topcoat.
Fantastic color, tailoring, and feel. By M3 Rice Rocket from Beautiful CA on 03/20/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Career, Casual, Classic, Conservative Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: What a great coat! Nice tailoring, fantastic luxurious feeling material, light in weight, but plenty warm. The color is a very rich dark brown; it works well paired with a nice sweater and jeans or over a suit. Three inside pockets (all with zippers) work great for wallet and cell phone. Has become my favorite "outerwear" coat, and should remain so for many years. Expensive, yet it is a tremendous value thanks to Sierra Trading Post. It runs large--I normally wear a 38, but the 36 fit much better (I tried both). I would recommend ordering a size smaller.
By bondcounsel from Rochester, NY on 03/20/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the third european size that claims to match US sizes. I ordered the 48 (38US), and it is HUGE!
With that said, if you can find the right size, the coat is just a fantastic deal for the money!
By Coat freak from Ann Arbor on 03/08/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Going Out Describe Yourself: Conservative Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The coat is incredibly lovely, well-made and light! The Amadeus line from Schneider's of Salzburg is pure luxury. Frankly, I hadn't anticipated it being so nice, and I already own an Amadeus dress coat and two Schneider's everyday coats.
