Someone else posted that the buckle was weak, but I think it's good, high quality all around.
I wore it to a soccer game during the rain and it was definitely waterproof.
These pants are more durable than they are light, so I wouldn't bring them on a backcountry hiking trip. But I plan to wear them when I need to be outside when it's cold and rainy.
Someone said they got them for a bike/motorcycle, that would probably work ok, except you need something extra long for biking unless you want the legs to ride up your calves.

Sharp Vest but not slim fit By JB from Cambridge, MA on 06/09/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted a waterproof vest for warm weather rains - whether just running errands, hiking (wet arms beat suffocating heat anyday), or out on the water. I like the look and materials of the vest and will keep it, but I wish it was cut narrower through the midsection and waist. It does have a elastic cord so you can tighten it so it was not a deal breaker, just a fit preference. I am 6'2" and 195lbs (42L, 34 waist) and got the large. This could accomodate someone with a 42-44 chest and 38-40 waist.
