pay for what you get sometimes By kingcalves from Ft Lauderdale, FL on 10/19/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The quality of this shoe is barely average. The price was ridiculously low so I couldnt' say no. I doubt I'll buy another pair of non-climbing shoes from Mad Rock again. I wear these abou t2-3x a week and I don't think they'll make it 6 months.
By quakefiend from Texas on 10/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Rugged, Sticky, Versatile, Weather Resistant Best Uses: Bouldering, Indoor, Long Climbs, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: this is a great shoe. I wanted a snug fit, so I ordered a size below my street shoe. They are very snug, but that's how I like 'em. Plus, since they are leather, they tend to stretch over time. (even the rubber does a little over time). The "mad rubber" is great - very sticky, even when dirty. If they are clean, watch out, you might have to peel your shoe off the slab.
If you don't like really snug climbing shoes, just order your street shoe size or a half size below. If you want nice and snug, get a full size below your street size like I did.
By flues from California on 10/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The toe rand scuffed off the first week. I work on roofs and need sticky rubber. The traction seems ok I'm not sure about durability since they look torn up already. I haven't used them in the wet yet.
By cor. from Durango CO on 10/09/2009 Pros: Awesome rubber, Good Fit Cons: Runs a size smallbuy big, Strap goes under shoe' Best Uses: Beginningintermediates Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Its a good fit, but be safe and buy one size large. the only problem i have with this is that strap runs under the arch. you hardly ever climb on that portion of your shoe, but when you do that can make it aggravating. That aside, killer shoes. for[$] bucks? lovely.
Great shooe for the money! By RoscoePCoaltrain from Denver, CO on 09/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Incredible shoes for the money. There is enough cushion for every day wear, yet they are stiff enough for long hikes on rocky trails- no stone bruises.
The sole grips like a mountain goat- incredible traction when scrambling. Great price for a great shoe!
By dave from albuquerque, nm on 09/08/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: have gone through 5 pairs of these shoes. i wear a 11.5 street shoe and a 10.5 madrock. these shoes are made to stretch and conform to your feet...not fun at first but leads to great results after several sessions.
By Shawn from Chicago on 09/07/2009 Pros: Good Fit, Great price Cons: Bigger sizes hard to find Best Uses: Fit my girlfriend well, Good for recreation Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I needed cheap shoes in a hurry, and read on the site that Mad Rock runs small. So I ordered a pair of Mad Rock mens size 9 for my girlfriend, who wears a womens size 8. The shoes fit her very well. They were comfortable for her all weekend on a recent climbing trip, and provided plenty of traction.
By kcsandy from kansas city on 09/01/2009 Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: this is the third pair of climbing shoes i've ordered (half- or full-size larger) and returned because the sizing is so bizarre. i know they're supposed to be snug, but this is ridiculous. i didn't climb in them, so i can't give any other advice except order BIG.
By diveclimb from North Carolina on 08/14/2009 Pros: cheap, Unlined leather Cons: Sized small, Velcro surrounds shoe Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: My street shoe size is 11.5 US. I bought these at size twelve and they are so tight they hurt my feet just trying them on...Forget using them! Don't like the velcro strap across the sole of this shoe either.
Wow, this shoe is sized low! By David5252 from San Diego, CA on 07/13/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear a mens size 11 and ordered an 11.5...these are size 10, tops. I'd say it's pretty narrow as well and I have an average width foot.
