Perfect blend of size and convenience By School Monkey from Dayton, Ohio on 11/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good padding, Highly Adjustable Best Uses: Backpacking, Book Bag, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was searching for a bag I could use around campus that would offer excellent quality, reasonable price, medium carrying capacity and a protective laptop pocket. When I stumbled upon the Surge, I knew my search was over. This bag has exceeded all my needs. I use it daily and it has yet to show any signs of fatigue. I highly recommend this product with one caveat, if you have a large water bottle it will not fit in the side pockets, however, a 20oz sports drink fits just fine.
By Chris the outdoorsman from Gulf Coast of AL on 11/11/2009 Pros: Beautiful color, Comfortable, Cutting edge design, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Sturdy, Very nice stakes, Very roomy, Waterproof Best Uses: Backpacking, Beach, Car Camping, Hiking, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have been looking for a good backpacking tent for almost a decade. This tent in my opinion, is one of the best designs I have ever seen. It is very roomy for two people and big enough for three average sized adults to sleep comfortably. Easy one person pitching, nice poles, the entire top is net so you can see the sky very well. The fly is beautiful and resembles a VW bus, I love this tent. I would advise the purchase of the footprint to protect the bottom and to pitch the rain fly without the tent.

I have a 3 person VE 25 from 2000 and this one has the same and better quality. I really like the fly only option but won't try it until next summer. Winter in the Rockies is not the place for fly only.
