Great for biking in the cold! By Cold-biking ninja from South Lake Tahoe, CA on 02/05/2009 Pros: Adjustment works great, Good Fit, Good Protection, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Commuting on bike, Cross Country Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these ear warmers every day during the cold for commuting on bike to work in South Lake Tahoe [0-40 degrees]. These made the difference between a tolerable ride and a comfortable one, even though everything else was bundled up. That is saying a lot! I should mention that I don't wear a hat.
My second most important item is a muffler [solid cloth tube] that covers my neck and lower head up and over the nose and ears. Without the 180's, the cold draft still gets to the ears and they freeze up. With the 180's and the muffler, I feel like I'm still inside! They do a great job! When it is a little warmer [40-50 degrees] I lose the muffler and just use the 180's.
They hold on well, adjust for my daughter, my wife, or myself, and can easily fit under other cold weather wear. Be aware that they don't protect your forehead, if that is what you are really after.
I highly recommend them!
By bezimmer from Northern VA on 02/03/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Easily Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Cross Country Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Outdoor Chores, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Good concept, bad mechanics. Covers won't stay extended to largest setting (or nearly that close) even when not in vigorous use. The internal return (spring?) mechanism is stronger than the catch that's supposed to hold the muffs open. Comfortable for about 20 seconds then I just take them off. My plan is to return them. These may work for someone not needing the largest size setting - just not for me. Maybe they are just too small...
I love these ear warmers! By Tony from NYC from NYC, NY on 02/02/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Easily, Good Fit, Good Protection, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use them for work and for morning jogs. The fact that there water proof and breathable make them that much bettor.
Functional, but limited practicality By Jack from Cincinnati on 02/02/2009 Pros: Good Protection, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are warm and the utility of not messing up hair is terrific, but on my average sized head I have not gotten an exact snug fit. Consequently, when I move my head they don't always stay put.
They also muffle sound a surprising amount when on securely.
The other con is that they don't fold down tightly enough to easily go into a pocket - take them off and you either have to hold them or set them down somewhere.
Great product for a great price By Col from Chicago, IL on 01/27/2009 Pros: Good Fit, Good Protection, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I used this product while on a ski trip. The best part about it is that it stayed in place and I didn't have to worry about it falling back on my head like most headband ear warmers.
