O'Neill

O'Neill

It was the 1950’s when the icy waters of San Francisco Bay drove inveterate surfer Jack O’Neill to develop the neoprene armor that is the stuff of today’s wetsuits. Several permutations preceded the arrival of neoprene, including WWII frogmen suits lined with long underwear and later, glued-together pieces of closed-cell foam. Having solved the problem of keeping surfers warm with varying thicknesses of neoprene, O'Neill went on to enhance his wetsuit designs with advancements like the Z.E.N. zip closure system, Smoothskin, Super Seal Glideskin, Plasma Knee Pads and Firewall Chest panels. Today O’Neill wetsuits are the protection of choice for surfers and divers on every coast.

wanted a suit that could withstand cooler north atlantic water temps (40s-60s). this is a well-made suit, with a tricky entry through the neck. not suitable for speedy triathlon transitions! feels a bit thin so i can't judge the warmth without taking the plunge. i returned, sadly.

Comments:
This wet suit seems to be good quality. It fits well and has a flattering look. It is a bit tight around the neck, but still feels good. Otherwise, it is not restrictive in any way. I bought it for paddling, but haven't used yet. So, cant assess durability and how it wears.

I am new to surfing (only a few months experience) I have borrowed mulitple wetsuits from friends and this one by far has the most stretch which is great! the size chart is wayyyy off though. I am 5'9 1/2" and weigh about 155 an average weight for my height. According to the chart i needed like a size 12-14 which was wayyyyy too big. I purchased a size 8 and it was fine. They were out of 8t and that would have been ideal but the 8 is not too short (for all you tall ladies out there) There is one thing I don't like and that is the seams on the legs are much tighter than the neoprene so it looks a little funny. Getting into this suite is not as hard as everyone says. It takes some getting used to and I was worried about it because of the reviews that make it seem impossible but really its not much harder to get into than a zip suit. Getting it off is a little trickier but only the initial part of getting it past your shoulders. Anyway its an awesome suit and NO I mean NO water gets into it.

I wear this while snorkeling. It keeps the sunburn risk down to a minimum. It alows full unrestricted movement on and off the water even for a stout person like me.

I love the color, the fit is perfect but keep in mind I ordered one size larger than I would normally wear. The fit is still snug but comfortable. I will wear it for swimming and when riding the motorcycle in the hot summer months for the sunscreen protection.
