Outdoor Research

Outdoor Research, whose products bear the ubiquitous "OR" label, is regarded as a world-class technical outfitter known for high-quality mountaineering accessories. Outdoor Research's history goes back to 1981 when founder Ron Gregg was working on his doctorate in applied physics. A passionate mountain climber, he took a near-calamitous trip to the summit of Mt. McKinley with bad gaiters, suffered from cold, wet feet, and thereafter developed a snow-proof gaiter in his basement. Other products followed and Outdoor Research was born. Gregg found his niche in the "little things people don't give a second thought to, but wish they had." Outdoor Research designed first-aid kits, waterproof overmitts, casings to keep water bottles from freezing, and crampon pouches. Outdoor Research's famous Seattle Sombrero—a Gore-Tex® hat that looks more like a fedora than a sombrero — is still seen on the streets of Seattle (and slopes of nearby mountains) today. It's another example of "utilitarian chic" — the no-frills philosophy that has made Outdoor Research an innovative leader.

Love it. Been shopping for this and found the best price at STP[...] Wore it same day and very pleased with adjustable fit, quality and goretex shed rain as I needed it too. Has a nice touch of feminine with a little floral design on the back brim but barely obvious. Can tighten with head band and cinch on with strap depending on wind (needed in Kansas). Called for assistance on fitting and found STP customer service extremely helpful. I LOVE IT!!

Lots of great features on this jacket. I really like the liner when worn alone. However, the shell styling is blah. Good color but not much shape.

Casual Wear, Driving
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Gear Usage:

Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I needed an overmit for my winter motorcycle gloves to break the cold wind. I ride in 20 degree weather and the wind chill really kicks the temp down at 60 mph. Waterproof, windproof, and toasy fingertips is what I was looking for and these overmits work perfectly. A bit bulky for signal controls, but with two pairs of gloves on they actually have pretty good dexterity. Love them.

I'm mostly happy with the contour pant, the rise isn't too low. The waist is a bit big, I need to wear a belt with it.
