Outdoor Research

Outdoor Research, whose products bear the ubiquitous "OR" label, is regarded as a world-class technical outfitter known for high-quality mountaineering accessories. Outdoor Research's history goes back to 1981 when founder Ron Gregg was working on his doctorate in applied physics. A passionate mountain climber, he took a near-calamitous trip to the summit of Mt. McKinley with bad gaiters, suffered from cold, wet feet, and thereafter developed a snow-proof gaiter in his basement. Other products followed and Outdoor Research was born. Gregg found his niche in the "little things people don't give a second thought to, but wish they had." Outdoor Research designed first-aid kits, waterproof overmitts, casings to keep water bottles from freezing, and crampon pouches. Outdoor Research's famous Seattle Sombrero—a Gore-Tex® hat that looks more like a fedora than a sombrero — is still seen on the streets of Seattle (and slopes of nearby mountains) today. It's another example of "utilitarian chic" — the no-frills philosophy that has made Outdoor Research an innovative leader.

Comments:
Love these gloves! Comfortable, top quality and unrestrictive. My hand is wide ("cadet" in golf glove), usually men's large are either too narrow or the fingers are too long. These are perfect. Snow guard is just the right length, doesn't rise too long on the sleeve.

Good quality gloves at half the price of retail. The vermiculation on the fingers isn't would I would like but I can overlook it for the price.

I measured my hand the way the sizing chart suggested, and had to return them for a larger size. Other than that, they seem great.

This is a good quality coat. I was a little surprised by the color (I believe I ordered pomegranite). It was more like a dark maroon, darker than I expected.

These aren't as think as I would like them, but I had planned to purchase more to layer up. So they have the room for that. They are nice and big as far as coming back up over my jacket. I haven't worn them out in the cold yet, but I've had many OR products and I'm assuming that they'll do the job...

If you wear size 34 then L (35-37) will be perfect. It's too long for me but since the ankle is elasticized, it doesn't bother me. Exceptionally well constructed and washes very well.
