Bison Designs

Brian Kelleghan thinks outside the box. Not too many people would look at climbing gear and come up with pet collars, but the founder of Bison Designs did just that back in 1987. Using webbing for climbing, he began designing belts and pet collars from the weather-resistant, shock-tested material - perfect for the dog who suddenly lunges into action when a rabbit crosses his path. Staying true to their mountaineering roots, Bison Designs has also taken the carabiner and molded it into dozens of useful, whimsical shapes. It's impossible to say what Brian and Bison Designs will come up with next, but you can be sure they will carry on the tradition of finding practical new uses inspired by mountaineering equipment.

By Old hill kickerVerified Reviewer from Roy, UT on 03/12/2008

Comments:
If you're tired of trying to find decent web belts with buckles that actually work and don't slip-at a decent price-try these. Well made and thoughtful design without the weight of those military-type slide buckles that are on most web belts. Fashionably thin... fits almost any belt loops....and, in my opinion, perfect for summertime use with shorts, etc. I plan to hike and backpack with them. Style is an individual preference, but the designs on these belts are well above the norm of solid or single-stripe belts that cost more and are not nearly as well made. Made in CO (Yes, really!-Thanks, Bison.) this is one product that looks better "live" than in the pics. I think these are a remarkable bargain.

Nicely made and nice looking belts. They are very adjustable due to the buckle type. The variety of colors in the belts let them go with many different kinds and colors of clothes. I have several belts in different colors and patterns, and I like them all! They are some of my favorite belts.

I like Bison Belts. They don't stretch out like leather, and cost way less. I would like to see them some wider versions.

Comments:
Nylon is great for hiking / backpacking where leather will sweat the pigment onto your clothes. I can see the buckle coming loose if you put a lot of heavy stuff on the belt - but for a cell phone or small knife it's no problem.
