The guy I bought it for wears 7-7/8 and the hat was much too tight for him to wear. It's too bad because it looks nice, seems durably constructed and probably would've been a great hat otherwise.

The durability is such that you will pass it down to your son, most likely. Wool keeps you warm, performs when wet, and wears like iron. Filson is a name to be trusted completely...though I can't believe they are discontinuing the camo version of this classic coat. This is a well-advised investment.

I wasn't expecting something of this quality. In all honesty, I was expecting it to be like something my Grampa used to wear under his old flannel shirts....old fashioned and thin. While it's old fashioned, it's anything but thin. I think it's got old log cabin style, and I love that look!

It provides the natural warmth and comfort of carduroy with minimum bulk. The fact that it seems to run a half size large allows you to wear it over a sweater, winter underwear, etc. Highly recommended.
