By In the Dark from Rockville, MD on 10/14/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I got it two years ago for the occasional power outages we have, and have used it 3 times for less than an hour. This last time the crank handle broke where it meets the circular base. It's indeed flimsy. Since the crank is essential, I wouldn't recommend this product.

Birthdays handled 4 a while By Squirrelly MacStubbs from Chester, CA on 08/18/2009 Pros: Bright, Durable, Long battery life Best Uses: Car Camping, Day trip Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: During car camping w/the family 3 people have already tried to snooker this flashlight(somehow it just got in their pack, oops!), everybody loves this thing. Holds and charges well/ solid build/ bright beam. Bit heavy 4 Back or Day packing. It would be nice if the beam would cone down to fine point but hey, an overall great flashlight.
No Good For Alaska Winters By Dr J from Cedar Rapids on 08/12/2009 Pros: Bright, Durable, No Batteries, Spare Bulb, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not superbright but solor recharge is great. I keep it in a southwest window for emergency backup light. Aluminam casing is of course stronger than the plastic version STP also offers.
By Dr J from Cedar Rapids on 06/15/2009 Cons: Dim, Light duty pun intended Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not a bright floodlight, but ok for light duty emergency backup in home or car. So just turn it around and crank it if your lefthanded, quit complaining about the righthanded world conspiracy.
By RIMD from Rhode Island on 08/03/2008 Cons: Didn't charge the phone, Ineffective Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: would have been great if it worked
Not as cheap as I expected By Phoenix from Mid-Missouri on 05/29/2008 Pros: Bright, Durable, Rubberized exterior, Stable Best Uses: Car Camping, Day trip, Emergency Kit Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was pleasantly surprised to find this flashlight covered in a rubbery outer, rather than just cheap plastic as it looks in the picture. It's a nice little flashlight and the radio functions well. The light on the handle is only a red flasher, though, and I thought it was like a lantern bar. Great 4 keeping in the car or basement 4 emergencies. Not too big, not too small.
By kyerdr from Waterford, CT on 03/23/2008 Pros: Compact, Lightweight Cons: Difficult to Use, Ineffective Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a solio but since the appalachian trail is mostly forested I needed something to be able to charge my phone with for emergencies so I purchased this. This dynamo seemed like a good idea but it is not very effective. While turning the crank it will be charging the phone one second and not the next. This is not a very good product because it really doesn't work, at least the one I recieved doesn't.
By Jilliansue from Gunnison, CO on 01/25/2008 Pros: Compact, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Two pieces came off right away. I would not recommend it.
Great idea but needs to be redesigned. By vi from los angeles, ca on 01/03/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This flashlight is a great idea, but the winding handle is the weakest part and feels as if it will break off easily. Also, the light on the handle doesn't make sense: would be better if on top or side.
