Pacific Outdoor Equipment

Pacific Outdoor Equipment

Based in Bozeman, Montana, Pacific Outdoor Equipment was started by outdoor enthusiasts who love backpacking in the surrounding Rocky Mountains and paddling down the Yellowstone River. Their love for the outdoors spawned Pacific Outdoor Equipment, a grassroots company devoted to producing some of the lightest sleeping pads on the market as well as innovative waterproof dry bags and packs specially made for canoeing, kayaking and backcountry travel. In fact, Pacific Outdoor Equipment received the 2004 Editors Choice Award from Backpacker Magazine for their groundbreaking MaxThermo sleeping pad. If your recreation calls for top-quality waterproof dry bags and outdoor sleeping pads, look no further than Pacific Outdoor Equipment.

Great bag. Good size. Most other brands are either too small or way too big. Haven't had it in the rain yet, but see no reason why it wouldn't be waterproof. Feels great on the back too!

Pacific Outdoor Equipment Sleeping Pad

too narrow, didnt inflate very well
By padlnjones from greenville, sc on 06/29/2009
Cons:
Difficult To Inflate, Too narrow
Best Uses:
Car Camping, Weekend Trips
Describe Yourself:
Casual Adventurer
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
admittedly, the instructions say to inflate/deflate several times before using, but I decided to return it. I dont mind blowing one of these up the last few puffs, but this didnt want to self-inflate at all. Also, I am 6 feet 210 lbs, and it was very narrow for me.

Pacific Outdoor Equipment All Out Lite Sleeping Pad (For Women)

Not self-inflating, felt good though.
By Hiker chickVerified Reviewer from Cambridge, MA on 06/28/2009
Pros:
Comfortable, Compact Roll Up
Best Uses:
Backpacking
Describe Yourself:
Casual Adventurer
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I bought this pad to go with a GoLite minimalist hoodless down bag, as a cheap 3-season sleep system that could fully stuff within a short-torso W's backpack (Gregory Pingora XS 49L). The first couple of times I have brought the pad out to self-inflate, it has not (even given several days to do so). However, it has only taken about 5-10 breaths to blow it up myself, and is totally not strenuous even if you'd been hiking all day. I wasn't too impressed the first time, but the second time when I tried it out with my sleeping bag on a hard tile floor, I thought it was quite cozy and a likely keeper (whether or not it "self-inflates"). Again, not field-tested, but there are lots of durability reviews out there for this item.

Clothes and sleeping bag stayed dry in this bag as it sat in water in the back of a kayak. Liked how it can be compressed using ari valve and it can also be used as a pillow of sorts by inflating.
