Quality Products
By Roller1 from Billings, MT on 06/05/2009
Pros:
Sharp Blade
Best Uses:
Camping, Hunting
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Both are quality products. Someone else said the knife was hard to close. You have to pull back the safety before pushing over the blade lock. It does take two hands to close, but I don't find it difficult. The flashlight is very bright and fits in my hand well. Well constructed with an O-ring seal. Seal seems very positive & tight. Switch is on the base. Can't beat this combo for the money.

Outstanding case just to use for luggage. I've recently did an extended trip to the Philippines and after multiple flights to numerous provinces the suitcase didn't have a bit of damage. The rest of my luggage did not fare as well.

Terrific for Backpacking
By Canoe GuyVerified Reviewer from Morrisville, NC on 01/05/2009
Pros:
Bright, Durable, Very light
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I have other Pelican flashlights. This one is the best, especially for backpacking since it is very light and small, yet extremely bright. I'd take this anywhere. Completely waterproof - although this is done with an o-ring seal, and you turn the light on by turning the clear, threaded bulb enclosure and this is sometimes a little hard to turn. But worth the slight disadvantage. Handy to just have to use AA batteries and not some special type.

Not Waterproof
By Diver ManVerified Reviewer from NJ USA on 01/04/2009
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Bought two for diving; both failed at less than 80 feet. Leaky O-rings, possibly due to the units' age at time of sale, shorted out both lights and left one so hot the battery was in danger of exploding. Manufacturer notes that O-rings must be lubricated annually to maintain waterproofing. Sierra Trading Post did refund my purchase price.

Not for diving
By MilanVerified Reviewer from Baltimore, MD on 08/22/2008
Pros:
Bright
Cons:
Flooded at 50-feet while
Best Uses:
Backpacking
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The biggest problem I found with this is that it flooded at 50-feet while diving in salt water and ruined the reflector, so take that 500-foot rating with a grain of salt. In addition, as someone else mentioned the terminals had come unglued and it took me a while to get them in the proper position.
