By Canoe Guy from Morrisville, NC on 01/05/2009 Pros: Bright, Durable, Very light Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have other Pelican flashlights. This one is the best, especially for backpacking since it is very light and small, yet extremely bright. I'd take this anywhere. Completely waterproof - although this is done with an o-ring seal, and you turn the light on by turning the clear, threaded bulb enclosure and this is sometimes a little hard to turn. But worth the slight disadvantage. Handy to just have to use AA batteries and not some special type.
By Diver Man from NJ USA on 01/04/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought two for diving; both failed at less than 80 feet. Leaky O-rings, possibly due to the units' age at time of sale, shorted out both lights and left one so hot the battery was in danger of exploding. Manufacturer notes that O-rings must be lubricated annually to maintain waterproofing. Sierra Trading Post did refund my purchase price.

By Milan from Baltimore, MD on 08/22/2008 Cons: Flooded at 50-feet while Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The biggest problem I found with this is that it flooded at 50-feet while diving in salt water and ruined the reflector, so take that 500-foot rating with a grain of salt.
In addition, as someone else mentioned the terminals had come unglued and it took me a while to get them in the proper position.

By llewdaert from Australia on 08/12/2008 Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This had an adhesive inside the torch body that makes the connection between the two battery sides. This adhesive had moved and needed to be redone. I am a professional mechanical fitter and I found the job difficult, and that it needed jewellers type tools to do a good job. Torch is now very good
