By Camper-girl, the latest in superheroes! from Covina, CA on 12/20/2008 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Career, Classic, Comfort-Oriented, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this bag for upcoming trip to Mexico. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. It isn't too big or too small. I can fit a change of clothes and other carry-on needs without worrying if it can handle the load. I now have 6 Rick Steves bags, including rolling suitcases and the backpack convertible bag. I am rough on my bags (as is the airport I'm certain) and they all have held up well!!! The only reason I have so many is that I have bought different colors to match my travel apparel and/or destination needs.
Great as my rolling briefcase! By Barb, P.T. from Richmond, Va on 11/25/2008 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Rolling briefcase Describe Yourself: Career, Comfort-Oriented Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm a traveling therapist but did not want a black rolling briefcase. This bag is stylish and I have everything I need with me in one rolling unit. I'm no longer toting multiple bags back and forth. It holds my planning notebook and several portfolios in the back compartment. A letter size accordian file box fits nicely in the front to hold individual students records so they are easily accessible. I added a second smaller Avanti bag on top to hold all my misc small treatment supplies (including my videocamera). I used the Avanti guidebook holder for all my pencils, pens, desk supplies, etc. It tucks in between both bags and the entire unit stands independently.
By jh from boston, ma on 11/10/2008 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality Cons: Rick steves logo too big Best Uses: Airplane carry on Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-Oriented, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good carry-on,did what I needed on a 2-wk trip to Italy (after I looked at a lot of others). Not flashy (don't want to attract attention to it and the expensive camera inside it), but looks fine (could be a little more stylish). RickSteves logo says "my first travel bag", should be smaller.
The bag is a little fat when full, a little hard to get out from under the seat in front.
It does its job, and I expect to use it many many more times.
Awesome 'Little' backpack By Wendie from Iowa City, Iowa on 11/09/2008 Pros: Adequate Capacity, Attractive Design, Good organization, Lightweight, Quality Construction, Secure Design, Well Organized Inside Best Uses: Daily Commuting, Important Documents, Staying Organized, Traveling Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This backpack is great whether I am going grocery shopping or taking things back and forth to work. I really like all the room and pockets to keep me well organized. I can't wait to travel with it.
poor description not well designed By rokkyofnh from Dover, NH on 11/07/2008 Cons: Inside pocket, Is a pouch with velcro, No front compartments, One front pocket, Poor design, Single internal section Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The description is deceptive. The inside "compartments" small mesh pockets. The description made it sound like it was separated into, well compartments. Its more like a small tote bag with a zipper. I don't like it and wont use it wasted money
By Sue from Santa Rosa, CA on 11/01/2008 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, High Quality, Lightweight, Lots of pockets Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Comfort-Oriented, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this Rick Steves bag for a 3 week trip to Europe. It performed beyond my expectations. It was lightweight, spacious, had lots of 'nooks and crannies' for storage, and fit easily under the airplane seat. Also easily fit onto the handle of my Rick Steves suitcase and was very secure. I cannot imaging traveling without this bag.
Well Designed, Weekly Use Too Much? By Weekly Traveler from New Mexico on 09/07/2008 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Good Capacity Best Uses: Business Travel Describe Yourself: Career, Comfort-Oriented, Modern, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This product is one of the best designed laptop carry on bags I have ever used. The compartments are well thought out. But after about weekly use for less than one year the wheels fell apart. The rubber outter cover of the wheels parted ways with the hard plastic underneath. I cut off the rubber outter cover and the plastic wheels remaining work fine, but the wheels are (embarrassingly?) loud when the bag is rolling now. Despite this I still am using the bag and I would still recommend the product.
GREAT like all Rick Steves' products By Deb from Fairfield, CT on 08/21/2008 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Family Trips, Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Career, Comfort-Oriented, Modern, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I own one and purchased 2 more as gifts. Love this!
By Raconteur from Payson,AZ on 08/05/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Transport, Handy, Large Capacity, Lightweight Best Uses: Airline Travel, Extended Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Usually as I travel I have a tendency to accummulate more in my bag than I had intended; this is a great addition; meanwhile; when boarding it keeps the addition things in a bag rather than bulging pockets.
too small to be useful, ok for kids By victorifan from chicago on 07/31/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: It's not useful in its folded up form, except perhaps as a small purse for a teenager.
