By casting4fish from Palos Verdes, Ca on 04/02/2009 Pros: Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Large Fish, River Fishing Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This fly rod will be used for fishing rainbows in Alaska. The rod casts well and has enough backbone to cast heavy flies and pull on big fish. Best fly rod I have found for the price.

looks like it came from china By buckmaster07631 from metro nyc on 03/27/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I should probably reserve my review until I have fished with the rod...but at first glance...it looks a bit cheaply put together...in fact it makes a Pfleuger I bought in 1985 look like a premium rod in terms of quality of components. I realize it was inexpensive...and I bought it with the intention of buying a few more for gifts and backup rods for those who don't fish frequently...but definitely doesnt seem like a powell product.

By slugger from Western NY on 03/09/2009 Pros: Accurate Casting, Good Tip Action Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought both the 7 & 6 weight rods. The 7 was very impressive. I already was able to try it out on some lake run browns.Landed 5 fish all over five pounds, topping out at about 12. The rod cast great ,good feel, decent hardware.very happy with this product.
The 6 was not as nice. Lousy and I mean lousy, hardware.Cast fine.Terrible rod case. The 6 is strictly going to be a beater rod.
By Deepmantone from Irvine, CA on 03/09/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great rod for the price. 6 wt. easily casts a dry 7 wt. WF line 80 ft. Action is not "fast" compared to modern rods but is nice and even. You can feel it load-up about mid-rod and transfer energy nicely to the line given a little patience. Reminds me of my old RPLX - which I still love.

It is a pleasure to cast and I can do so all day without fatigue. Wonderfully balanced and sensitive. It is one of my favorite rods. The graphite reel seat is well suited for salt water and looks great. Would definitely buy another.
