GREEEEAT QUALITY, somewhat of a long fit By Smoothnsilky from New Jersey on 09/19/2008 Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was stoked when the jacket arrived... Felt like great waterproof material that would most definitely do the job. The fleece liner felt rather thin, and the sleeves on it were super long. Other than that, the jacket itself felt like good quality. However, I can't say much more because I decided to send it back. I'm 6'1" 180lbs and I ordered the large, which turned out to be too long. I'm somewhat tall, but this jacket was cut waaaaaay too long for me. I'm thinking the medium might've been more appropriate. But hey, just throwing it out there. Enjoy the weather!

The hood is the only reservation I have By Biodoug from San Francisco, CA on 04/01/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Wet Weather Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Hood does not zip off or fold under, leaving it exposed to rain or snow if not being used.
Wild interior pattern is OK, but is visible in hood and detracts from exterior appearance. This is not visible in pictures, which are misleading.
Except for the hood, this would be a fantastic jacket

By Adam from Boston on 03/03/2008 Pros: Breathable, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great jacket, lots of pockets, works nicely with 686 pants, waterproof, looks good. I wouldn't wear the liner on its own, but thats because the xl lining is pretty big... I got a large because the specs matched my measurements; it ended up being too small in the chest but fine in the arms. (6'2" 210lbs)
Excellent 686 Jacket & Value from STP! By Aceboympk from Midwest Flatlander on 02/18/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Free shirt hat, Great style, Lightweight, Multiple jackets in 1, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Skiing base and summit, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket shell, liner, moisture wicking shirt and hat are an excellent value. I received a lot of compliments about the jacket from other 686 owners and those who never heard of 686.
The only issue I had is the jacket is a little large. I'm a 42R and the XL was way too big. But, Sierra took care of me by allowing me to return the jacket! What more can be said about their EXCELLENT customer service.
THe arm gators, powder waist, hood, THOUSANDS of pockets, pit zips, and other features provided superior comfort at Jackson Hole base (mid-30's) and while skiing the summit which was 10 degrees and had 70 MPH wind gusts causing white out conditions. Overall an ideal jacket for this non-snowboarder. Who says 686 is for snowboarders only?!!!
Oh, and the jacket is conservative enough for me to wear to my office while easy enough for the rest of my ski party to easily pick me out of a crowd of Red/Black ski jackets.
By John from Indianapolis, IN, heart is in Tahoe on 01/08/2008 Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill, Freestyle Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Haven't skied with them yet but pleased upon arrival. I ski, but generally like the fit of snowboard pants better. Didn't catch in the description the zip out liner. I like it, comfortable and easy to remove. A little bit long but common for snowboard pants. Good for in-bounds skiing/riding. Might be bulky for hiking in
