A bit too heavy for my ultralight backpacking trips but perfect for car camping and bike riding at night! The bean is super bright w/ 3 levels and i love how it swivel so you can illuminate however far ahead you want. Strap is comfy and adjusts to fit my small head. Very pleased, great price for a high quality product.
Great deal on a quality headlamp By Flatlander from Kansas on 11/12/2009 Pros: Adjustable Beam, Bright, Easy to use, Lightweight, Stable Cons: No center strap, No Red LED Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Cycling, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this to replace an old bulky Brinkman headlamp, and so far have been very pleased.
Pros: Brightness is excellent. Lamp actually has 4 settings - three brightness, and one flashing. The flashing is great while cycling to make yourself more visible to motorists. Headband is wider and grips better than my old Brinkman. The headband adjustment ring is also shaped as a tool for opening the battery compartment, which works great. Even in dark, wet, cold conditions this makes battery swapping easy to do just by feel. The vertical beam adjustment is "notched" meaning it stays put once adjusted, but can be easily re-adjusted with one hand.
Cons: Wish it had red LED option. The on switch can be a little hard to use with gloves on.
Overall, this is a great deal on a high-quality headlamp. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I haven't had it very long, so can't comment on durability or battery life.
Great product: don't store w/batteries By BayouSlide from New Iberia, La. on 11/10/2009 Pros: Bright, Durable, Long battery life Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great product for the price, comfortable, lightweight, perfect for hiking and other outdoor activities. Unfortunately, the battery covers are a pain to remove, but REMOVE batteries for storage. I had two and both were ruined by battery corrosion after storage for eight to 12 months: seems to be more of a problem with these any of my other lights. My other lights are fine with the same name brand batteries when stored with batteries for years. Purchased two more, but won't make that same mistake again.
Great for wearing on your waist By strended from Honolulu, HI on 11/05/2009 Pros: 180 degree adjustable, Bright, Long battery life, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, Backup light, Hiking, Night Running Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I run trail races which require running at night. I've found that using two lights at once is good way to move during hours of darkness. A strong beam headlamp is recommended for seeing things greater than 15 feet away. This allows you to anticipate what is coming up. For this I wear the light on my head. The additional light is for you to see immediately in front of you so you can decide where to place your feet. Since trails are irregular, sometimes going up or downhills for miles a light that swivels up or down, depending on the terrain is a must. Most headlamps I've used only swivel one way. The Princeton Tec Fuel allows for quick and easy adjustment so the light is always in front of you. It's design which allows quick removal of the included head strap allows for quick and easy installing on any one inch waist band that typically comes with most backpack bladder systems.
Princeton Tec Fuel LED Headlamp By Timber tamer from NJ on 11/02/2009 Pros: Bright, Long battery life Best Uses: Automobile repair, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this to use as a 'hands-off' light when I perform maintenance on my cars or motorcycles. Also as a helmet light for offroad motorcycle riding. Good for trailside repairs or BS'in with the buds!
By Mel in the Mountains from Western North Carolina on 10/31/2009 Pros: Adjustable Beam, Bright, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this so I could get my walk in the woods with my dog in the morning, before work, while it's still dark. It works perfectly for me and my dog is ecstatic to get his morning exercise. I've only used it a few times so don't know about battery life but it was rated well so hope that's the case.

By alpineashley from Bar Harbor, ME on 10/22/2009 Pros: Adjustable Beam, Bright, Durable, Long battery life, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking, Rock climbing at night Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got this because I found a great deal on it and read great reviews about the product on a number of sites. After purchasing it I intended to use it almost exclusively as a night climbing headlamp, but it has been invaluable for long day hikes that spill into night, and will be my companion for ice climbing. It is very bright (I in fact usually only need it on the dimmest setting), and simple and light enough for everything I could possibly want. I rarely replace gear because I prefer to treat it gently and repair it when it breaks, but I had this Gizmo headlamp from BD that was dreadful (too many issues to list here) and this headlamp fully surpassed my expectations. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you are looking for a solid headlamp that is light, bright and without too many extra frills (IE things to go wrong when you need that the least) I would say, hands down, this is the light for you.
By konartist from Mercer, WI on 10/22/2009 Pros: Bright light, Good Quality, Great Price, Practical, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Everyday, Night Out, Office, Recreation Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I keep one on my key chain to provide light in dark areas such as parking lots. Use the hat attachment for cross-country skiing at night. Good for camping - finding things in the dark.
