By Lumpy from Santa Barbara, CA on 02/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish Cons: Manual not clear, Scratches Easily Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Gives alot of info but it's hard to get all set up. Manual not clear.
By lounge lizard from Honolulu, HI on 02/05/2009 Pros: Quality Construction Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel Describe Yourself: Athletic, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It's bulkier than it looks in the photo. Also, the temp. function is never accurate, usually 5-10 degrees warmer than actual temp., even when it's been off my wrist for a while. But other features work properly, including altimeter, compass and barometer, which gives reasonably accurate weather forecasts. So, good for casual hiking, but its not serious outdoor gear. For the discounted price, yes, it's worth it, but I'd return it if I had paid the full retail price.
Good watch - hard to set barometer By Firefighter401 from Morristown, NJ on 02/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish Cons: Scratches Easily, Smaller than a Suunto Best Uses: Daily Use, Work Describe Yourself: Athletic, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The watch provides numerous functions, in a small and stylish package. The barometer is challenging to set. Overall less expensive than a Suunto, and smaller in size.
Product is far toocomplicated to set up By N/A from NYC on 01/31/2009 Cons: Bulky, Difficult to set up, Inaccurate Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This watch is very unsatisfactory and impossible to set up. I would return it if I could
Great price on a good watch By Rossi from Laramie, WY on 01/28/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Quality Construction, Stylish Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel, Work Describe Yourself: Athletic, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a nice watch at a great price. Lots of features. The altimeter is not the most accurate, but it accomplishes what was intended which is to give a general elevation not 1 meter accuracy. It is easy to use. The display is easy to see. I'm not crazy about the band. I wish it was interchangeable, but it's not so I'll just live with it.
By Steve from Central Oregon on 01/28/2009 Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking, Skiing Describe Yourself: Athletic, Outdoors, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I hike and ski often and on hikes, while bushwhacking cross-country, the electronic compass has been very handy. Skiing, the accumulated altitude function becomes a 'vertical feet skied' meter. I have found the thermometer to be inaccurate, but with the sensor next to your wrist that's a reasonable short-coming. I've yet to figure out how the barometer 'setting' process works, (I set it one way and it responds another), but the graphics pick up pressure changes better than my home barometer. The Origo is a great multi-function for the price. I am still memorizing regional altitude 'landmarks' in order to reset the watch routinely. This would be a good gift for your outdoors friend...though maybe a bit large for a lady's wrist. Have fun!
Good Wyoming Sponsered Product By coyote camp gear nut from Montana on 01/13/2009 Pros: Accurate, Comfortable, Quality Construction, Stylish Best Uses: Daily Use, Formal Events, Travel, Work Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Had one before,it sucked down batteries towards the end of it's three year life and then the band finally broke. It's rugged design took all the abuse I could throw at it and, once calibrated, worked as a great reference tool (not designed to be accurate to the gnat's backside). Worked awesome in every environment (helo operations, Cabo surfing, Sierra's, Rockies,x-country skiing and Mojave sandstorms). Easy to calibrate.
Great Watch, Many Functions By JEM from Yreka, CA on 01/05/2009 Pros: Accurate, Comfortable Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel Describe Yourself: Outdoorsman Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very useful. Helpful information
Great watch for the price! By Grunt from Camp Lejeune, NC on 12/30/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Quality Construction Best Uses: Daily Use, Work Describe Yourself: US Marine Infantry Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought since many friends didn't like their $400 SUUNTOs. Great watch, inaccurate temp (but I know when it's hot or cold), decent altitude accuracy, great barometer/weather forecaster. Best part, darn near indestructible...trust me, I've tried to break it! Don't pass up this price.
impressive and complex, but inaccurate By Si Montagnard from Amsterdam, Holland on 10/04/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Quality Construction, Stylish Describe Yourself: Classic Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I sent it back immediately, because of a permanent 12 Celsius grades inaccuracy, while I removed it for hours from my wrist! The air pressure proved accurate, though. The altimeter needs to be calibrated on sea level airpressure, but does not reckon with normal pressure changes, so continual calibrating seems necessary...
