By Doc from Mississippi on 06/10/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pack has plenty of room for a full day on the water. It beats my much more expensive vest and I don't need most of the junk I usually carry in a vest. I bring another bag with everything I might need and leave it in the truck to replentish the pack as needed.
Great Chest Pack for a Day on the Water By Wild Bill from Canton, NY on 06/05/2008 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Lots of Storage, Waterproof Pockets Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been looking for a chest pack that would replace my vest because although the typical vest is very practical, it tends to be somewhat bulky and disorganized. I like to go out for a day without worrying about returning to my car for anything. I needed somewhere I could put my lunch, water, and other "emergency" gear (like a camera, for example!), and ideally carry it on my body without using my hands.
The Watermark Hydro Vest Pack really did the job well. Plenty of storage space for the day, and the compartments on the front enable me to stay very organized on the water. The zingers are great! Four altogether, and very sturdy. I would expect to pay twenty dollars each if I had to by them separately.
Lots of pockets, lots of D-rings, including one for my net, and very nice fly storage on fold-down platforms for tying on without leaving the water.
My first time out using it I got caught in quite a downpour. I was soaked head-to-toe. I assumed that everything inside the pack would be wet. But my phone and my camera inside the backpack both stayed totally dry.
Very nice, practical, durable pack. I highly recommend it.
By Woody from Cheshire, England on 05/28/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Functional Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: You don't even know you are wearing it! In comparison my vests now feel obsolete. Great little product.
A pair of hidden zingers!! By orio from Hokkaido Island, Japan on 05/12/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Functional Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It has a couple of wire zingers hidden at each side, which can hold a clipper and forceps. Would have been better if it had a pair of zipper handles (has only one).
Great alternative to traditional vest. By Gear Junkie from Seattle on 05/10/2008 Pros: Hydration, Lightweight, Lots of Storage Best Uses: Day hike, Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing, Saltwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This was purchased as a gift for a beginning fisherman. User is an avid hiker who loves a hydration pack. This product covers that plus front loading gear pouches for more than a days worth of fishing. I can not even come up with enough gadgets to use all the built in retractors.
By Outdoor Guy from Jacksonville, FL on 04/17/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Salt Water Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really liked this chest pack and used it several times for saltwater fishing. It has plenty of space and is light. However, for me the front portion of the pack kept riding up and choking me. I spent the whole day pushing it down. It might just be a little small for me since I am a fairly large person. I wear XL and XXL so maybe if you are smaller this pack will work fine.
Simple, effective fishing pack By boglin from jackson, wy on 04/15/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I like the simplicity of this vest. Not too many do dads to get your line tangled in. I could use more storage in the pack part, but without a hip belt, thats probably not possible. I can carry a rain jacket, water bottle, spare fly box, and lunch, but barely. Overall its comfortable and better than the last vest I owned, and for the price would recommend it.
Lightweight, but lacking! By Wylie from Monte Vista, Colorado on 04/13/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Pockets Cons: Functionality, Not Enough Storage or Features Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: A pouch in the back for a net would be helpful. The front pockets do not have enough restraints to hold equipment in place -- and are therefore susceptible to a loss of flyboxes, etc. if they are not opened carefully.
By CHAVO from FT WORTH TX on 04/11/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: PERFECT 4 THE RIVER
By The Stream Pounder from Madison, WI on 04/08/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Functional Cons: Somewhat larger compartme Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Will be used primarily for stream fishing for trout with spinning tackle. A larger rear compartment for rain jacket and a water bottle would be better.
The latter could also be done with a D ring attachment.
