April Cornell

April Cornell creates women’s clothing designed to make a special occasion of every day. Using a bolt of cloth as her artist’s canvas, she draws upon the beautiful images of nature to replicate recurring colors and floral motifs in April Cornell dresses, jackets, skirts and pants. April Cornell’s extensive international travels have inspired such clothing design influences as India’s tradition of fabric embellishment, the atmosphere of a European café, or the delicate shape of a Chinese mandarin collar. Drawing from diaries, photos and memories enhanced by touch and odor, April Cornell creates jackets, dresses and shirts that are not only colorful and exotic, but also comfortably familiar to her devoted customer. April Cornell also offers attractive accessories like market bags and silk scarves to complement her clothing line.

April Cornell Braided Market Bag (For Women)

Great looking Bag
By den mother from Cincinnati Ohio on 06/21/2009
Pros:
Attractive, Easy Access, Good Strap Length, Great Color, High Quality
Cons:
No compartments, No pockets or dividers
Best Uses:
Everyday
Describe Yourself:
Classic, Comfort-Oriented, Practical
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
A lovely bag but not so useful as an everyday purse. The lack of divided compartments or pockets means that keys, cell phone etc. all end up buried and hard to get at. But for what it is - a small beautiful stylish bag - it is good quality.

April Cornell Christine Jacket - Pintucked (For Women)

Somewhat Disappointing
By Karen the Gardner (and Painter) from Bethlehem, PA on 02/22/2009

Cons:
Not Warm, Wrinkles Easily
Best Uses:

Chest Size:
Feels true to size
Length:

Sleeve Length:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The jacket is a darker and more purplish blue than pictured. The lining of same-color, same-lightweight cotton and the tiny pintucks in the outer fabric make ironing difficult at best. The wrinkled look is probably okay, and the fit is nice. I have hand-washed it in cold water and drip-dried it, as directed on the label, without noticeable shrinkage. It should not be put in the dryer.

Can be dressed up or down by what type of trouser one wears. Looks wonderful with a pair of dressy chocolate trousers or dark wash indigo jeans. Very versatile depending on how one layers under the blouse to suit the pants. For dressier look I use a chocolate, melon, and multi shades of yellow-green sweater and never fail to get loads of compliments! Sounds strange but looks great.

Love this blouse because I can use with jeans or dress up. I love that it is so feminine looking. This blouse is not gaudy. The design is muted perfectly and the little sequines around the neckline add just the right touch. Usually a large is a little more loose fitting on me but I can't say this blouse is snug.

This is a lovely top - the picture does not do it justice. If you don't like sequins though, you should look closely because the jacket has a few. I wore this open with a print tank underneath and dressy summer tan pants and high sandals. Felt great and got several compliments.

Wow! Nothing flatters quite like the cut of this shirt! The front and back vents coupled with the princess seaming are the perfect frame for the understated embroidery and subtle pale green beads. I chose the Nomadic Traders Sonoma striped linen pants to complement this top. The colors, fabrics and proportions of each piece make a classy outfit.

Comments:
Princess seaming and front and back vents hide figure flaws and accentuate form. Pale green sequins, securely sewn to the tonal embroidery, provide an artisanal look. I paired it with the Nomadic Trader striped capris, creating an outfit that can go casual or dressy-casual. The shirt jacket is appropriate for three seasons; a vest over it or a thermal layer beneath could make it apropos year around. While it's not carefree to maintain, it holds up well to home laundering.

April Cornell Braided Market Bag (For Women)

Ridiculously small
By GracieVerified Reviewer from San Francisco on 05/24/2008
Pros:
Attractive
Cons:
Not Enough Room
Describe Yourself:
Career, Classic, Comfort-Oriented, Modern, Practical, Stylish
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I cannot believe that they describe this bag as a "market bag" . (Maybe it would work if you were going shopping for toothpicks or bobby pins.) This bag is REALLY TINY. Check out the dimensions. It is smaller than a standard 8 1/2 x 11" piece of paper. It is totally useless. I guess you COULD use it as a reusable lunch bag but it is kind of expensive for that. I was VERY disappointed . The braided fabric is nice but the bag is WAY too small. I returned it the same day. Sorry...
