I've been riding/racing them since they were the Grand Prix 3000s. Great Price is the best part and the ability to pump to 120 psi.
By DJ from Albuquerque, NM on 03/17/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight Best Uses: Commuting, Long Rides, Road Bikes Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: even better than the Conti Gatorskin, which is also an excellent tire.
Great price for a durable racing tire By KC from St. Louis on 03/10/2008 Describe Yourself: Competitive Cyclist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Continental 4000 tires are a steal when you can get them for under [$]. I paid [$] for a [$] tire. This is probably one of the most durable, longest lasting, smooth rolling, racing tires on the market.
By CycloCrossed from Carmichael, CA on 03/03/2008 Describe Yourself: Competitive Cyclist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had heard quite a bit about this tire and finally decided to give it a try. I have only put 50 miles on them so far, so I cannot comment on the durability, but I have some initial impressions.
Excellent grip in dry conditions (have not tested in wet conditions),which is probably due to the soft outer compound. This also makes the ride very comfortable.
Other tires used in the past or currently on other bikes are: Michelin ProRace, Schwalbe Stelvio & Hutchinson Fusion
By Chris from Boulder, CO on 02/29/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight Best Uses: Long Rides, Road Bikes Describe Yourself: Competitive Cyclist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As a competitive mountain biker I put in a lot of miles on a road bike during the week when I can't get to the trails. I have been using Continental road bike tires for years and the GP 4000 performs just as well as I have come to expect from Conti tires. Durable, light, grippy, and resistant to flats in the same package.
By gonz from Seattle, WA on 09/01/2007 Cons: Not the least expensive Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist, Triathlete Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: superb summer tire for hardpack and mineral soil. sheds mud well, but consider a more aggressive tread for very muddy conditions. Excellent all-round tire!
