Scientific Anglers

Scientific Anglers

Scientific Anglers, now a division of 3-M, was founded in 1945 by avid fly fishermen who knew the sport well and knew what the customer wanted. The founders realized that sometimes anglers want the line to sink and sometimes to float. Old fly lines were made of silk, had limited float capacity, would sink once they were soaked and took a long time to dry out. Scientific Anglers invented the first true floating fly lines, giving the angler more control. Schools of fishermen would crowd the stores to purchase this new product from Scientific Anglers. Other innovative products followed: sinking lines, shooting lines, tapered lines, the first balanced rod and reel system. Today Scientific Anglers is leading the way again with thinner, stronger lines, silicone-coated lines, see-through waterproof fly boxes, line-to-leader "simple twist" connectors and pre-rigged systems. Scientific Anglers has also eliminated the use of lead in sinking lines, helping to protect our waterways. At the epicenter of the fly fishing world today, Scientific Anglers doesn't have to fish for compliments… they caught their limit a long, long time ago.
