By Idaho Kid from Boise, ID on 03/10/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy To Clean, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have only used it a few times, but it heats up quickly at higher cold altitudes. The square design and the light weight is ideal for packing. I was able to boil 32 oz of snow in about 4 min at about 8500 ft. It performed the same as a titanium pot a friend had, but the GSI was so much less expensive. I love it.

By Canyonjo from Boulder, CO on 02/28/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy To Clean, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: There has to be tradeoffs for light weight and packability, and the unstability of the handles and low rim are tradeoffs here. It cooks well and packs well but is a little difficult to keep food inside and the handles require caution to keep from dumping it as well. Wish this size had the higher sides like the smaller one, still, I'm glad to replace the larger, difficult to pack pan I have been using.
By carmike from Isle Royale, MI on 01/21/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy To Clean, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The only down fall to these pans is the handles have been falling out since day one, small irratation. Saves so much room and hold a lot of food.
By Doc from Durham, NC on 12/05/2007 Best Uses: Backcountry Camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Disappointed as to the quality. I thought it would be heavier metal to cook more evenly.
By AB in SJ from San Jose, CA on 09/12/2007 Pros: Compact, Hot Surface, Light, Packs up well Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Campgrounds, River Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wow - the square shape helps A TON in packing. This size is about right for two peeps. Would be a stretch to cook for more. I have only used it a few times but it is so light I cannot help but worry a bit about durability - especially the "non-stick".
By Willis Teoh from Adelaide, South Australia, Australia on 09/11/2007 Pros: Compact, Hard wearing surface, Hot Surface, Light, Maintenance free Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Motorcycle Adventure, River, Trips, Winter Camping Describe Yourself: Adventurer with fine food Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for an all in one cooking pan when I chanced upon GSI Camp wok. I chose the 11" version. I used it for back packing, Adventure motorcycle desert trips. I like to cook and insist to have fine food while on the trails.
Match made in haven.
I use in conjunction with a Kovea Titanium Gas Stove (88 grams/3.1oz. I'd rather pay more for a small/light and powerful cooker and go for a versatile Wok like a GSI. The bottom of the pan has machined lines that GRIPS to the Kovea's 3x support arms. No slip n sliding. That is impressive for a wok this size on a small stove like the Kovea. I also use a Kovea Scout Stove as a second stove to cook simultaneously "small but not as powerful as the Titanium stove".
Tuff Stuff
I love the hard wearing surface unlike other cheapo stuff that scratches on the first go or so. The wok is so easy to clean. The non stick surface is of high quality and you have to see & use it to understand why. The handle snaps back and forth positively. It is cool enough to hold even in the heat of cooking. I have dropped the wok a couple of times onto gravel & no dents so far.
Versatile all rounder
The weight is also spot on for a wok of this size. I like the EVEN heat distribution & retention of this wok. Very important for the kind of cooking I do. Size matters so I have cooked a whole chicken on it “all chopped up". Versatile wok with all kinds of cooking can be done on it. The wok comes with a superb cover which helps to cook faster and keeps the insects away.
Price is right
With the price, one cannot go wrong with this wok if one ones to have good food on the trials.
Eat well & eat a lot too.
