I have used it on days that were in the negative teens before the wind chill and it kept me toasty. Pair it with a midweight base layer and a waterproof / windproof shell, and you'll be ready for anything that Old Man Winter can throw at you.

The zippered, underarm ventilation is a nice touch for an inexpensive, lighweight packing jacket.
