By Kohala's Mom from Raleigh, NC on 10/15/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Runs small. I normally wear size 4 and ordered both small and medium. Had to return small. Medium fits fine over a sweatshirt. Double zipper is useful but can be hard to get started. Inside of parka feels ok against bare arms, not slimy like some rain jackets. Light blue color looks nice.
By Steelheader from Bozeman, MT on 10/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat is warm & comfortable. Fit is true to size. It packs away in it's own pocket. I would not recommend for extreme conditions, as it is fairly lightweight. Might tear easily. Unbelievable price.

Light, Simple, Waterproof Shell: B+ By Rod H. from Chicago, IL (USA) on 10/14/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this to keep in my commuter bag for rainy days here in Chicago. It gets plenty of use, and is light-weight and easy to store.
I haven't yet taken it with me camping or hiking, and it likely won't breathe as well as some of my other items for very strenuous activities.
But, for around town and for even long walks in the rain, I would rate this a solid: "B+"
Warm, Rugged, Light-Weight == Great! By Rod H. from Chicago, IL (USA) on 10/14/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had been thinking about getting a down jacket for about three months before I purchased this. I kept reading different reviews, and was aiming towards one of the "top of the line" ($300+) jackets. My downstairs neighbor is a sales rep for Sierra Designs, and I actually bought one of his old samples for my son. I absolutely loved the down jacket that my son was wearing, and finally decided to get this one. I waited for a STP sale / email coupon, and ended up paying only [$] for this jacket.I couldn't be more pleased:1) Stylish2) Rugged3) Light-weight4) Warm+It is great for wearing around town, hiking, and going to BEARS games (Da' Bears!).Overall rating: A Solid "A"Keep up the good work, Sierra Designs! And thanks!
By Rudy from Western Massachusetts on 10/14/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Lightweight, Wind Resistant Cons: Constricts Movement, Irregular Size, Weird fit Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I got a medium in this jacket after reading the reviews. I typically wear a small. It wasn't too small per se, just poorly fitting. Sleeves were too short, jacket itself is a little short, shoulders were definitely strange fitting, kind of slope-y. Just not attractive looking. I returned it.
By Mirandamom from SLC, UT on 10/13/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Perfect for cramming in the backpack in case of rain or if the wind picks up.
By suzie the rider from Bloomfield ,NY on 10/13/2009 Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The down in this jacket was not what I expected. It was much thinner than I expected. The jacket was too short. The picture looked like a short jacket with really long sleeves. This would have been good. It was shorter in the sleeves with an even shorter jacket
By finch mama from Croton on Hudson, NY on 10/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Good for petites, Lightweight, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Great for hikingdogwalks Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am petite, 5'2" and 110 lbs; this coat fit great for me.Most Small's are really too large for me. I would recommend most women order a size up unless you are petite.
By Poolius Maximus from Ashland, OR on 10/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Sierra Designs has always made phenomenal tents and this one is no exception. Somehow they have made it extremely light, and yet roomy and comfortable, with no scrimpy on details. As an often solo adventurer, it is nice to have a real tent, as opposed to the coffin-like sacks that pass for single person tents. Also, the best products I own have been "Backpacker Magazine Editor's Award" which this one won in 2004. Don't worry, it is not dated in the lease.
