Joan Vass

Joan Vass

Joan Vass wasn’t always a New York fashion icon. Before her name became synonymous with luxurious, unstructured women’s sweaters, tunics, pants and dresses, John Vass was using her education in philosophy and aesthetics as an assistant curator for the Museum of Modern Art. Joan Vass developed a fascination with textile art, and made it her mission to connect with talented local women and introduce their beautifully crafted hats, scarves and knit clothing to the marketplace. Her efforts resulted in a unique brand of artisan women’s clothing that earned Joan Vass the Smithsonian’s esteemed Extraordinary Woman of Fashion award in 1978. Joan Vass’ label has expanded to meet the demand for her unstructured sweaters, tunics, cardigans and drape front shirts. Known for luxury fabrics and timeless-yet-modern designs, Joan Vass clothing is sought after for classic silhouettes and comfortable luxury. From cotton skirts and dresses to color-block cardigan sweaters and cashmere shirts, Joan Vass clothing is a brand American women know, trust and wear with confidence.

Comments:
The fit of this skirt is very baggy. It might have been okay for me in a smaller size, but size 2 was the smallest in came (normally I wear a 4). Also, the fabric is that of sweatpants, but doesn't look bad. If it fit, it would be great casual wear.

I loved everything about this skirt EXCEPT the large bumps at the side of the thigh. I guess if you are built like that it would be fine, but I am not. I thought about trying to take it in, but decided against it so I had to return it.

This is the perfect, lightweight wool shell to wear under a suit jacket or cardigan. The fabric is gorgeous, not at all scratchy or itchy. I really like the neckline, which is high enough for modesty in the office while still looking classic and elegant. Highly recommended, especially at this incredible price.
