Joan Vass

Joan Vass

Joan Vass wasn’t always a New York fashion icon. Before her name became synonymous with luxurious, unstructured women’s sweaters, tunics, pants and dresses, John Vass was using her education in philosophy and aesthetics as an assistant curator for the Museum of Modern Art. Joan Vass developed a fascination with textile art, and made it her mission to connect with talented local women and introduce their beautifully crafted hats, scarves and knit clothing to the marketplace. Her efforts resulted in a unique brand of artisan women’s clothing that earned Joan Vass the Smithsonian’s esteemed Extraordinary Woman of Fashion award in 1978. Joan Vass’ label has expanded to meet the demand for her unstructured sweaters, tunics, cardigans and drape front shirts. Known for luxury fabrics and timeless-yet-modern designs, Joan Vass clothing is sought after for classic silhouettes and comfortable luxury. From cotton skirts and dresses to color-block cardigan sweaters and cashmere shirts, Joan Vass clothing is a brand American women know, trust and wear with confidence.

Comparable in quality to RL Black Label. Beautiful construction and details. My only gripe is that it's cut a little too large overall.

These are very nice looking and comfortable pants for a long work day. They do run large and long, and I have a large waist and am a tall in length. I wish I would have ordered a size down, but I'll try to wash and dry-they do wash beautifully.

I like this shirt - but it is very light and needs to be touched up with an iron. It washes nicely - also runs big.

I was looking for a good-fitting top to wear out at night with jeans or a dressy skirt; this one was way too baggy. If you buy it get a size smaller as it runs large.

This sweater is softer and lighter weight than I thought it would be. The length covers my derriere, which is what I prefer. When I put it on, I look 10 pounds thinner. I wish it came in other colors.

THis is a big and comfy over-sized sweater. If this is what you want, it is perfect. Personally, I found the cut to be too big and would prefer a slimmer cut. Not for everyone.

Comments:
Casual is the mode for work, and this vest hits the spot. Sometimes I'm sitting for a while and get chilly, other times I'm active. "Sweater on, sweather off" no more. This vest does it all and looks good too. Its lines flow and give me a longer look (I'm short-waisted). Haven't washed it yet, but it is cold-water wash so I won't have to make a trip to the cleaners.
