These are below ankle height, just fine for my purposes, but sometimes the descriptions are not clear.

By I love camping. from Atlanta GA on 11/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Regulates Temperature Well Best Uses: Daily Use, Hiking, Sleeping in Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for my daughters because they like to wear the low cut thin socks. They weren't impressed but I am wearing them to sleep in when my feet are cold. They are light enough and non-constricting to be comfortable in bed.

By Phanatic from CT on 11/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable Describe Yourself: Athletic, Bargain Shopper Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice sock for the price. Very nice feel, prefer the Brigedale socks but you can't beat the value for the smartwool. Great for your average day on the slopes, forget about worrying about your feet!
Another great Smartwool sock By Runner D from Boulder, CO on 11/17/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Soft Best Uses: Around The House, Athletics Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Casual Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I actually bought this for two reasons: I wanted to have knee high socks for the winter, and IN CASE I tried skiing this season. They were on sale and I couldn't pass them up.
I have a good number of Smartwool socks, and these are just as reliable. They stay up (I've got those calves where socks don't like to stay where they're meant to), they're soft and keep my feet warm, but not sweaty. I don't know what they feel like in a ski boot, I'm sure they're great.
By Bigfoot from LA on 11/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well, Stylish, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking, Running Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is kind of hard to be amazed by a sock, but these socks are truly amazing. The sock is engineered so that different knits and blends of material are used in different zones across the foot to make the sock stretchy and snug where it needs to be stretchy and snug, extra cushy where it needs to be extra cushy, flexy where it needs to flex and extra tough at points of high wear. All these different "zones" come together beautifully to create a perfect fit with no loose or tight spots -- great comfort and functionality. Should prove extremely durable too. My "go to" sock from now on.
