Smith Sport Optics

Smith Sport Optics

The Smith Sunglasses tradition began long before Dr. Bob Smith struck a deal to manufacture Smith Goggles. His Smith Goggles had been legendary with locals in Sun Valley, Idaho, for years. Initially made around a kitchen table and traded for lift tickets, they were just too awesome to be kept secret for long. After realizing the demand for his technology and innovation, Smith was founded in 1965 with the first ever breathable vent foam and sealed thermal Smith goggles lenses. Soon expanding into Smith Sunglasses as well, Smith became a force to be reckoned with in the optical industry. Today Smith Sunglasses and Smith Goggles are on par with the best in the world. Tapered Lens Technology (TLT) allows light to travel directly to your eye instead of distorting it along the way, providing enhanced clarity and exact positioning of objects in your field of vision. Other Smith innovations include Fog-X anti-fog coating, PMT ventilation system, and the patented Turbo C.A.M Constant Air Management system. Remaining in the forefront of the industry with breakthroughs such as this has kept Smith Sunglasses going strong and given the name instant recognition worldwide. Suffice it to say, that’s a long way from hot glue in the kitchen.

Comments:
I saw these sunglasses in a catalogue. I bought them here, b/c they were 1/3 the price. Very stylish large frame that fits closely to your eyes...a bit of wrap. These are great for just knocking around. I probably wouldn't run in them, but they would look cool on the golf course or some other less active sport.

Better than my 1st pair!
By Andy the Athlete (corny, huh?) from Madison, WI on 11/02/2009

Cons:
Scratches Easily
Best Uses:
At The Beach, Athletics, Casual Wear, Travel
Sizing:

Bottom Line:

Comments:
My second pair of the District II...better than the first as they've made some advancements in the rubber nose-holder-thingey. Don't slide as much as you get sweaty! Lenses do scratch fairly easily, so be as protective of them as you can when not wearing.

Comments:
I bought these for my sister who never buys a decent pair of sunglasses and so the review is basically in her words. These are very cool looking polarized specs with a decent fit. They feel loose after wearing for a while and need to be tightened and they feel a bit heavy compared to my other "cheap" sunglasses but not too heavy for their size. The best sunglasses I have ever owned!

By chillywilly from Minnapolis.MN on 10/29/2009

Adequate Tint
Cons:
Unattractive Design
Best Uses:
Casual Wear
Describe Yourself:
Classic
Sizing:
Feels too large
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

These were described as medium frames, but I think that is only if your face is like that of BIG BEN the famous clock in England. These could double as motorcycle goggles. I returned them.

These are very nice sunglasses. The frame seems extra durable but not heavy. Fit my face very well. A little tight at the ears. I have not worn them for an extended period of time yet to determine if they become unconfortable, but they are very high quality and worth the price.
